Dash lights .... Am I missing something!!??

Post by scott-78 »

Hi..
I was wondering, should there be any lighting for the heater sliders and fan speed wheel? Mine dont light up. Also the headlight knob doesnt light up either?
Is this normal? ... The clock does work though, as to do the foglight switches, clocks etc
Your help in this would be much appreciated.

Right one thing at a time,

The light switch knob should come on with the ignition.
It is powered via an ignition live supply.

The heater slider and fan speed wheel are all illuminated (very badly) by one bulb. It is notoriously poor, and also notoriously awkward to get at to replace the single bulb

Thanks guys. Im guessing they probably use a similar or the same tiny bulb as my analogue clock lights up with. Next time Im feeling the inclination (probably during the 4 day bank hol weekend!) I will go for it....
thanks again and my car will be back to its former glory in no time with the help Ive found on the forum! :thumb

The headlight switch bulb was soldered in on mine, and there very very fiddly to take apart and put back together again, ended up in the bin after about 30mins.

Just got a cavalier in there and the dash bulbs are gone round the heater as well but the clock is working.

Anyone a guide to replacing it?
