whining noise and not from passenger seat :)

Post by Squig »

whining noise coming from speakers, rises with revs and volume isn't affected by stereo volume... what could cause this didn't do it before fitting new cams... i'm confused

If its coming through the speakers, could it be related to alternator?
I'm assuming you've turned the radio off to see if the noise is still there?

Is it a high pitched sound or just a buzzing whinning sounds?

doesn't exist when stereo is off isn't related to the stereo volume and changes pitch with engine revs

Its a little box that bolts to the alternator and shuts up the whining, should pick one up at the autofactors for not much less than a tenner

or the inline type http://www.maplin.co.uk/free_uk_deliver ... _33180.htm

Test it with a multimeter, testing the output to see if its higher than normal (should be around 14v if I recall) if it is - overcharging might cause this issue.

damn! I know what is causing this now... the only change I made that could cause this is the second amp so yes I had to route the power cables under the pass side plastic sill cover. I think the second amp is causing flux interferance.

Cheers gaz... will reroute the power cables this weekend...ish
