dash lights doing strange things lol

strange one

no keys in ignition

turn side lights on

then turn right indecator on

then the all dash lights come on, turn indecator off they go off etc

any ideas peeps? got me pickled tbh

One of two things.

Either your indicator stalk is buggered or you headlight switch. I'm going with stalk tbh.
Just changed mine Cos it was doin funny things .

pie mate just get one out of a mk4 astra, thats what i fitted, they feel much better than the older type, and saves you £15 odd posted .

Sounds like something is shorting out. perhaps try removing the indicator relay, pop it back in, see if it helps.

On the later models, with the ignition off, the indicators act as parking lights, so there must be some sort of relay that controls that... Maybe that's at fault? Can't really suggest anything else...

They'll be for some of the toys you get in a GSi. Did you try cleaning the pins on the relay?

I thought it was only the facelift models that had them, my facelift auto does but my early manual doesn't... It's either that or it's model-specific?

Bad earth somewhere, or a fuse blown and causing a back feed, you already covered my other possible suggestions. Even a multi plug with a green terminal in it can cause this type of problem.

In fact, look at the rear lights perhaps, if there were a bad earth there then the indicator may back feed and do the dash lights via the sidelight circuit?
