I still think it was flooded and that you cleared it inadvertently playing with the crank sensor, but unless it does it again we'll never know
...or possibly with the previous attempts at cranking, the area between the pump and the injectors was still under pressure

Hmm, I dunno really. There was pressure at the valve but the plugs didn't smell of fuel/had no wet on them. Bare in mind we have disabled the immobiliser as it was the source of the other starting woes last year.
It runs now, that's all that matters :)
