It does get a bit annoying and seems way over sensitive so I keep it on minimum too.
If you ever get the urge to add the wiring for SDVC, it is very simple.

Just one wire - blue / red to pin 5 of the radio ISO connector.

This can be connected to the wire of the same colour in any of the following: -
1 - Fuel Computer
2 - Dual Info Display
3 - Speedometer / instrument cluster.

Although, if it is a bit of an annoyance, you will probably not wish to bother.

SDVC always worked perfectly on the CD300 that I had fitted up until about six or seven years ago

You could check if it is set to the correct number of pulses for the radio that is far too sensitive.
(If it will let you)

Robsey did you write something about the displays for these radios being coded to the unit I seem to remember but can't find ?

My understanding is that they are not coded.

The radios are, but changing the display will at worst ask for the radio's own code.

The only place I have known issues is when fitting a Philips display (CD300 or SC804) to a Grundig radio (SC303 etc) - or vice versa.
In my experience, I have found the different makes NOT to be cross-compatible.

Others have reported no issues.

Saying that though - The code on my SC804 was fully disabled by the previous owner - no code needed. And I could not get it to need one.
