System 90 901 / 902 Discussion Thread

Post by Robsey »

Hi all, I have added this discussion thread because I have been asked to help with a non-start issue.
I am doing this remotely via whatsapp.

The car if I remember correctly is a 1995 Cavalier with a "factory fit" 901 alarm and is located in the Cambridge area.
As feared, scotch-locks abound.

So here is the original 901 thread.
viewtopic.php?f=70&t=15815&p=162546

For more fun it has been scotch-locked into a Delco-esque / strange variation of the transponder-type alarm socket.

Strange though as the 40 pin Delco unit was only used on Transco Combo vans as far as I can fathom.

Vauxhall at its 'best'.

More to follow...
I will be asking for input.

Okay story baseline.

The owner is fitting a C20XE from an older non-immobiliser Cavalier to his wife's 1995 Cavalier.

The engine, ECU and injection loom were known working fine.

After fitting the engine and loom, the car refused to start.

The chap came to me asking for help with a flashing engine light.
My immediate thought - Immobiliser issue.

I advised the owner to look at the alarm connector...
But it does not have the expected alarm, so should not flash the engine light.

Expecting a yellow alarm connector - his wife has this.

And down below the glovebox, this.

Not sure if it is related... the flasher (indicator / hazard light) relay is not oscilating.
Just staying on.

Weirder still, although it has the 903 remote kit,

it does not have the 910 fuel pump immobiliser relay.

Major head scratching stuff.

Any thoughts??

Anyone else have this different alarm connector.?
