Good evening all,
My trusty V6 has developed a rather irritating central locking issue. Doors lock fine but when I go to unlock the locks immediately lock themselves. It takes a few attempts and only seems to stay unlocked if I hold the key in the unlock position and don't let the barrel spring back to it's central position. Any ideas? Don't reall fancy having to change all the locks

Re: Central locking issue
That sounds like one of the lock barrels is sticking.
Or...
If it is electrical, it could be a damaged wire in the loom in the hose between the door-post and the door.
Does the passenger door or boot do the same?
Usually I find the rear locks stop opening due to sticking or failed earth.
My driver's door would either cycle open, closed, open, closed... and so on. Until the module trips out.
Caused by a stuck passenger door lock.

Re: Central locking issue
The driver's barrel was really stiff for a while, I horsed a load of WD40 in it and it seemed to free up but now it's gone like this. Haven't tried the other locks, all the pins seem to go up and down freely

Re: Central locking issue
Depending on the type, the back end cams on the locks were a bit fragile and broke quite easily, I'd take the handle out and check it''s all ok

Re: Central locking issue
Cheers both.
I've tried unlocking from the passenger side (after taking the deadlock off on driver's side) and it works fine so must be something with the drivers door lock. I'll get the handle off this weekend. Any tricks to getting the door card off without breaking all the clips?

Re: Central locking issue
The recommendation is to use a Y shaped trim tool, but any flat blade inserted under the skirt of the clip should work okay.
Sequence of removal =
Remove screws at base of door pocket using a Philips No2 screw driver (not pozi-drive as it is the wrong angle and won't grip properly).
2 more screws in the door pull handle.
One release hook hidden inside the rear of the door pocket. Push in to release.
Finally work you way around the edge of the door card with the trim removal tool / flat bladed implement.
Finally push the door card up and off the inner window ledge
David's micro-switch suggestion would be my first port of call.
Can't believe I missed that.
I thought about it, but forgot by the time I put finger to phone screen.

Re: Central locking issue
I had an issue with my front passenger door lock started working intermittently It confused the central locking module because it was out of sequence I’d lock the car go to walk away and it would unlock itself because the front passenger door was stuck unlocked
