How do you align headlights

I understand how to change the beam but id like to get it set right. I know there used to be some sort of guide, X meters away from the car X meters high etc does anyone have a link as ive tried googling it but not getting anywhere.

you can rough it for the mot ,

borrow someones car and back away from a wall until the beams are close to the bottom of the wall and mark the floor where the car's front wheel is then set your own up to suit

I have got through the mot with this method
now running a swedish vauxhall...

It got through an mot but i think they are pointing a bit high, the beam pattern is there its just i wanna check they are right, as they are HID'ed up now so id rather not blind people

I tried doing my own by lining them up on the garage it takes a while but you get there in the end!
