One note id like to add, the Alarm trigger wire, Brown and violet, if Earthed to your stereo casing, it will protect your stereo with the factory alarm

Re: Cavalier Headunit ISO Wiring
Just noticed that the diagram says that pin 5 (Blue/Red - ABS wheel speed signal for speed dependent volume control) is for the SC804...
Strange though as my Grundig SC303 Tape Radio and later my CD300 CD Radio both had this function and connection.
And just for info, this ISO layout continues on all cars upto September 2004
(i.e. this includes vectra b, omega b and early vectra c plus the similar aged astras, novas, corsas, zafiras etc).

Re: Cavalier Headunit ISO Wiring
I would like to know how i am able to use my head unit on ignition turn 1.
Can it be done, So far i have had to turn the red and yellow wires around so it saves the radio station and my set up ect.

This cannot be done on the cavalier ignition switch, although I have read that the Vectra-B switch has pin for position 1 usage
So far i have had to turn the red and yellow wires around so it saves the radio station and my set up ect.
This is normal practice on ALL Vauxhalls, (To swap the red and yellow wires for after market headunits).

Suppose I should clarify, that the power (Red, Black, Brown and grey/green wires, along with the speaker wires are the same).Robsey wrote: And just for info, this ISO layout continues on all cars upto September 2004

The remaining wires in the ISO connector may have differing functions.

Re: Cavalier Headunit ISO Wiring
except Vauxhall and Sony seem to have a difference of opinion on which is switched live and which is battery live, lol

Does this make it any easier to check your wires against.

Can I ask where you guys get your 12v feed from? mine (when the engine is off) cuts the stereo out because of low voltage, when running its fine. I want to re-wire the live but not sure where from. Cheers

The radio goes off when you turn the ignition off? - This is normal. - It is what they call ignition logic.DAN90 wrote:Can I ask where you guys get your 12v feed from? mine (when the engine is off) cuts the stereo out because of low voltage, when running its fine. The red wire goes to Fuse 20 (10 amps)
The black ignition live wire goes to fuse 15 (15 amps).
Some radios can have their ignition logic turned off, however it would mean that you then need to manually turn the radio on and off.
Also, if you want - Vauxhalls will normally allow you to run the radio for one hour with the ignition off, before it automatically turns off again. This is to save flattening your battery.
Just press the radio's on button for that.
If you have issues with low voltage, then this would be due to a weak battery.
The only remedy for this is a new battery.or tighten, clean the battery terminals.
Re: Cavalier Headunit ISO Wiring
I have a new battery and fuses.
It's not when I switch the car off, it's when the car isn't running and I have the radio up pretty loud it will shut the radio off. If I have it at the same volume with the car running its fine. My brother said I have a bad live feed so just wondered where you get your feed from, would the caravan (number 28 fuse) constant 12v be a good source?

Re: Cavalier Headunit ISO Wiring
Deja vu? Pie has just been through the same thing and ran a new feed wire direct from the battery to cure it.

Re: Cavalier Headunit ISO Wiring
Nope -
What you need to do is run a heavier gauge wire direct from the battery, with an in-line fuse as near to the battery as possible.
Run this wire direct to the permanent live wire of your aftermarket radio's ISO connector.
Do not bother to connect it to the Car's ISO connector.
In brief
a) Thick wire from battery to in-line fuse.
b) Thick wire from in-line fuse directly to the permanent live wire of the aftermarket headunit.
I mis-understood the cause of the issue - should have guessed, it was because you are runnig a very power aftermarket head unit.
