From memory, theres only 1 earthing point on the Cavs in the engine bay (hence crap charging / poor headlights.
I've started moving my earths to different points now.

Definately one big one next to the battery. (for the high consumption stuff)
Although I do believe there is a smaller ground connection behind the engine (base of cylinder head, near to cam sprocket end)
And also there should be a bunch of smallish ground wires near the wiper motor connection in the scuttle panel.
On my old Mk 2 there was also an earth link from the alternator to it's metal mounting strap at the cylinder head end.
There is a big earth to the bell housing of the gearbox, from the battery negative terminal. (upper flange area just below the distributor) on straight four engines.

Other than keeping them well covered in coppergrease to stop the bare metal rottening nothing much. no real difference in lighting on the headlights, but I am going to relay them at some point (I keep saying I will, but havent yet for 1 reason or another).Dieselicious wrote:Any feedback to give??Envoy CDX wrote:From memory, theres only 1 earthing point on the Cavs in the engine bay (hence crap charging / poor headlights.

Righty-oh...
I've been cleaning up my earth tags on my car, and there are 4 distinct earth points. (On my C18NZ pictured, I have points 1 to 4)
I'm sure V6 will be totally different. They always are !!
1) On the back of the cylinder head - behind No 1 cylinder - earth for injector and other Throttle body bits.
2) On the passenger side inner wing
3) Sometimes theres an earth near to the wiper motor, under the plastic panel
4) On the distributor end of the engine near the back - Big brown cable that links directly to the batery -ve post
5) On some cavaliers, there is an earth tag on the gearbox - either bell-housing bolt, or on the gearbox end-plate
6) and if you are being pedantic - the battery -ve post itself.
