Rite need some help please
I have had to wire up the head unit in my new cav, all the wires were just cut of and wrapped up so just started from scratch!
Ive got all the speaker wires sorted and I also have the power sorted
But i cant fathom out how to power it from the ignition I just get constant power to the head unit!
Wire #1 (Black) i know is the ignition wire
Wire #2 (Red) I know is the live wire
If I put these together it just turns the car electrics on!
Any body know how I wire it up correctly?
Hope this is clear enough for you all

Re: Confused.com
Should have separate perm and ign switched lives on the car side, these need to go to the live and switched live for the head unit, which are usually red and yellow.

Re: Confused.com
red and the yellow on the far left need to be separate
the red goes to red and black goes to yellow
Either that or just put the vauxhall red to the red and yellow and wrap up the vauxhall black to have the HU on all the time

Re: Confused.com
ive never understood why people cut the standard block connecter off.
the block comes with every new head unit, you simply plug it in and swap the red and yellow around job done.
black = ignition usually goes to yellow on stereo side
red = goes to red

Didn't in the old days though, the head units all came with different connectors on themsriguy wrote:ive never understood why people cut the standard block connecter off.

Re: Confused.com
How to wire it up properly? Well you can bin that block connector for starters! Get it soldered
Re: Confused.com
dint mean that properlyTurboDan wrote:How to wire it up properly? Well you can bin that block connector for starters! Get it soldered
Just didnt want to twist the wires up and tape them up all ready had the blocks so just improvised
Works all good now tho keeps its memory and turns on/off with the ignition
Found an old alarm system behind the glove box as well connected that up but the fob dont work so every time i start her up she flashes
That's for another thread tho!
Lets see what surprises i come up with tomorrow!
