AC not working

Hi.

My AC dont work, and i think i have found the reason for it.

The connector to the magnet coupling is broken off it looks like. ( see picture )

Does any have a picture of what i should look like, and where it goes? ( underneath the engine, besides etc )

yes! that is broken! just like mine did. i thought my refrigerant had all leaked away, but it was indeed the power to the clutch which was at fault.
the wiring that should go to that connector pictured is in with the wires that go down the side of the radiator, past the fan switches. I had to take off the plug and clean it up to see what colours the wires were. then i remade the wiring good, by extending the old wires and re-soldering them. if you can find another car at a scrapyard to cut the correct plug off of, then do so, as you could save some fiddly soldering, then just rejoin the wires.

Guess what, i think ive found it. It goes as you say with the fan switches.

Now, i have to find a new connector. There are sadly any vectras ( cavalier ) here with ac, its a rarity. I think i have to search around, maybe new if its still availible.

An early Vectra 'B' may be useful.

Although any Vauxhall/Opel with a similar engine and A/C may be of help, it doesnt have to be a Cavalier/Vectra A

yeah, could do, but one of the pins is missing.

Anyway, i bought a new connector, 7 £

Lifting this post up, as i now have time to sort it out again

Changed the faulty Connector, but when i push the button, nothing happens ( the light in the switch is not lit )

Can this be of missing ac coolant? Or will it light up anyway?

As i remember, there is a low pressure swith that will cut the Power to the button if the system has to little/not any R134 left. Could that be right?

i'm not too sure on the older systems but i do know that the newer systems do have a auto cut off for the compressor if it senses the coolant is low. it could be the same for the older systems such as the cavaliers

Ok. Found a pdf here ( http://www.totalvauxhall.co.uk/2010/10/ ... 9aircon-2/ ) that says the same.

Hopefully,someone will know it that is correct!

I'm pretty sure it won't light up if there is no gas in the system on any age Cavalier, as far as I can recall.

Filled the system today, and now its lit. The ac works, but there are smal holes in the pipe to the compressor, so it will not last.

I think it is, but the UV fluid is now right under the radiator ( water ) on the left side ( near the compressor ) cant se nothing on the pipes, but i heard the hizz sound from there. I have to investigate it further.

What gas are you using? R134a or RS24?
