Anyone needing new headlamp wipers?

Post by Gaz »

I got a set from billing last year and the blades and holders were basically shot, looking online there were non available at all for a cav, only found some nos mk2 cav ones. I knew i could change the actual blades but the blade holders were a bit manky.

This afternoon while mooching round the scrappy i had a look at every possible wiper i found and after bringing a few home (i didnt take a tape measure or the cav one) i found a nearly perfect replacement in a vovlo 440 on M reg had the exact same blade holder but the blade was 10mm longer

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Volvo-Headlamp-Wi ... 2c5567ce00

volvo part number 274433

These should be a perfect new replacement once you trim 10mm off the blade.

Is it possible to rig them up to a lower spec model? What kind of work would be required? I'm sure the wiring is there, I've always wanted to have headlamp wipers on my Cav.

That is way way out of my skill. Oh well, thought I'd ask anyway. Cheers.

The hardest bit is getting the drilling of the holes in the correct places, and tbh its only going to be the main wiper hole that has to be perfect.

If i had a car that someone would let me remove a motor and measure it up, id knock up a drilling template

One of the bits that are hard to come by are the wiper stops (where the wipers sit) as people tended to save everything but these.
