Interior cleaning
Hi all. Just thought i'd share a few cleaning tips for the interior cleaning. After watching a certain Top Gear episode once, i discovered a very handy technique. As u may notice, your air vents get really dusty between the flaps and on the bottom-most flap. blasting the fans doesnt help, so get some cotton buds and simply wipe the dust off. It really does look brand new once its done, and there is less dust entering the cabin when the fans are on the trick works for any small hard to reach places, but the air vents i thought stood out the most. Also i sprayed the door trim panels with some interior cleaner spray, gave it a good rub and now the leather bits are shiny works on any surface too, and that smooth sweeping shape of the top of the dashboard on Cavaliers looks wonderful when its gleaming
Also another thing i found, even though its not interior but, the door mirrors, if u look closely at the bottom corner, where the mirror meets the door, there's quite a bit of green mould there on the rubber seal from years of being wet and dry and not cleaned. It does look quite naff, so all i did is took the mirrors off, cleaned them, then cleaned the mounting points, and the corner of the rubber seal, to get all the mould off, and now it looks great Its just the little bits everywhere, that make the whole car look great if attended to. I always do a good job of keeping my Cavalier clean whenever i can, as its my pride and joy, so i feel as if i have to share a few tips with everyone Happy cleaning, everyone

Re: Interior cleaning
I actually took the vents out and put them in the sink and scrubbed them clean. Mind you they were bad. I done the door mirror thing and it works a treat.

Re: Interior cleaning
Just a word of advise for those who may not know, when purchasing car cleaning products, try to find variants that do not contain silicone / have a silicone base.
Re: Interior cleaning
Any ones in particular? What is the main problem with silicon.

It gets everywhere, and if you ever need any paintwork done, can lead to issues should the painter skimp a bit on the prep work.Colorado wrote:Any ones in particular? What is the main problem with silicon.

No worries, I'm looking at Zymol Carbunara Cleaner Wax, £14 a tub, cheaper than Meguiars NXT and gives a better finish.Colorado wrote:I think mer is a silicon polish. Thanks for the tip.
