VBOA National Meet 2017 photos

Post by James McGrath »

Here are my photos from the weekend up in Market Harborough.
Sorry for the delay I can't believe this was nearly two weeks ago already.

I would have done these sooner only uploading all these took about 10 hours on my painfully slow 0.5 Mb/s upload speed and I couldn't quite face the task until now.

Anyway, after about 3 days work trying to get the LS and CD looking somewhere near respectable, this is what they were looking like on Friday morning just before my father and I left for Market Harborough:

Image

Yes I know the CD's grille is fitted incorrectly, and no I didn't notice until after I took all these photos. :wall

The horrors of the journey are best left forgotten, but we must have spent a good two hours standing still in traffic, all wear and tear that the cars could have done without.

Upon arrival at the hotel, I saw these in the car park, seems like a few others had the same idea:

I was very impressed with Market Harborough itself and couldn't resist taking a few shots about town:

Were in the right place then!

Seems like a very petrolhead dominated place, I was constantly spotting interesting motors:

After procrastinating around the town we didn't get to the actual show until midday on Saturday.
It wasn't long before I started seeing forum members strewn about the place. (We really need to get our own stand next year chaps)
One of the first cars I saw coming in was Elliot (Metallicav) in his tidy looking Pre-facelift hatch:

Image

Then I saw Steve (Steven715) with his Lovely china blue MK2:

Image

And then I didn't see Mark (markcavman), but I did see his very shiny late-spec SRi parked next to my CD auto:
(Sorry Mark, we must have missed one another)

And finally Dan (Humbucker) in his Saab:

The show ground itself was vast. It was basically a disused airfield, so it was very big and very flat.
Here's a panoramic view from the C & C club stand:

Even this doesn't quite show the scale of the ground.

Anyway, the trade stands were excellent this year with a huge selection of stands to rummage around in:

The cars in attendance were as always superb. Here's a selection of my favorites:

All in all, it was a great weekend. It wasn't quite the same a billing, but it never was going to be.
Besides, it had a charm all of it's own and for a first year it was very promising.

Great photos Lord McGrath!
Looks like it was great day and that the area can be better laid out next year.

Yup looks good.
Shame I couldn't make it again.

As for broadband -
I am totally jealous - I get 0.12Mb/s.

And finally Dan (Humbucker) in his Saab:
That was a good day. A shame I returned to the car to find it full of dust. Note to self: next time, close the roof!

Looking forward to this year's bash.
