VBOA anyone?

Post by Squig »

Emma and I have decided to go to VBOA so anyone up for joining us probably camping (if we can find any bleeding details :( )... info below;

VBOA National Rally in association with CCC Insurance
Date: Saturday 12 July 2008 - Sunday 13 July 2008
Location: Billing Aquadrome, near Northampton
Description: The major event of the year: the annual VBOA National Rally, once again sponsored by Classic & Collectable Club Insurance Ltd., will take place on Saturday July 12th and Sunday July 13th 2008.
Members of the 31 UK owner's clubs affiliated to the VBOA will be displaying over 2000 Vauxhalls, Bedfords and Opels. On Sunday we celebrate the centenary of GM, owners of Vauxhall and Opel since the 1920s, with the General Motors Years display of over 60 examples of every Vauxhall and Opel car model marketed in the UK since 1927.
Sunday morning will see arena displays by participating clubs and in the afternoon the crowning of the Best Car in Show while a massive autojumble will be open all weekend to supply parts, accessories and memorabilia.
Sprecial camping rates are available to members of VBOA affiliated clubs. Please contact your club for further details.
A downloadable form for autojumble space is available below.
Directions: Billing Aquadrome is signposted by brown signs from the A45 and the A428.

I will be calling John this week to enquire about camping. I will NOT be sorting camping and/or VBOA tickets for anyone other than Emma and I, but would love to see another good turn out.
This will not be a show that we will have a stand for, so this will be a purely social event.

Come on people let's have another get together!

I'm planning on going along to this. I was persuaded by some of the peeps I spoke to at PVS. ie that the facilities there are better than PVS. :D

Hopefully I'll get to see a few of you there? I spent most of Sunday at PVS in a post alcoholic / Pod comedown daze (did 19 runs of the strip on Saturday - oops!).

Just to keep you informed....If you wish to camp and/or show your cars at Billing, you must be part of a VBOA club, as according to the VBOA they have booked the entire site for the weekend and as such no entry is being permitted to vehicles unless they are displaying the VBOA Billing 2008 sticker.

I've been told that less chav types go to Billing so it's less noisy at night.

Which suits me as trying to sleep to the sound of a Nova being held on the rev limiter isn't my cuppa tea!

There are B+B's nearby and a travelodge...

My intention wasn't to be awkward, I just don't anyone to make the journey only to be turned away at the gates, better to go with another club or arrange local sleeping arrangements.

Anita....chavs not allowed, very strict speeding policy and also very strict night time 'noise' policy, have seen a fair few chav types thrown out, it's more geared as a 'family' campsite anyway, so sitting up BBQ'ing, drinking and socialising till the wee hours is fine, just a bit quieter and sleeping is actually possible.

cheers for that Mark. at least no one will make a wasted journey the night before to the campsite who isnt on a stand.

right can i clear this up (cheers mark glad you clarified things)

If your not on a VBOA club stand you cant get into the campsite as its for clubs attending billing only. That DOESNT mean you cant go on the actual days. you can still go and park in the normal car park, you just cant camp the night before the show.

What i thought we could do was find a cheap B&B and check in, then go to a local pub and have a social get together there. Good night sleep, then i'll be up whizzing to the VXon stand.

I'd camp with you guys Mark but don't wanna leave the members alone when some have travelled miles down to go.

in morning go on vxon stand and see you guys walking about, if i'm not with vxon clan  I need mike to clean my Cav for me  :P just kidding

let me know what you guys think.
if you want to leave it then thats cool, i'll sit my butt down with the vxon gang on the campsite, but i love billing its actually a nice day

arr thank god for that!

im up for the day definately, not sure about the B&B yet though, as i need to watch what i spend atm until i find another job, plus we've got the RR day soon which will cost a fair amount in petrol etc.

i shall see, but if i dont come with you lot to a B&B, i will deffo be there on Sunday, hopefully with Mike.

i'l be on the look out for all sorts of bits for my cav - SRI skirts, turbo rear lights, lowering springs etc etc.

will be great to see you all again though!
