It was a wet and windy day not such a good turn out as last year, but I’d still say there was a good 7 - 800 cars turned up it was good to see James, Lizzie, Mike, & Alan again

I did wonder what it would be like...

What a (wet) show!
Not been before but would definitely pencil it in for another visit.
Nice to meet up with James, Lizzie, Mike and Ian with his family. Photo is of where we met before venturing into the show in convoy.
Thanks to Ian for the legwork in arranging and obtaining the tickets.

It was a great day out, if a little damp at times!
Big thanks to Ian for arranging it all.
I'm afraid to admit that I spent very little time preparing for this show; Firstly, Lizzie's CD was still looking good after all the work for Vauxfest and I always think my Diplomat is never going to look like a show car so I tend to be less inclined to spend time shining it up.
I did just about find the time to wash both of them and blacken the plastics on the Diplomat though.
As the weather wasn't ideal that day I'm glad I didn't spend anymore time. Must be something about taking the Diplomat to a car show; the last time I took it out to a show was Simply Vauxhall in 2013. It pored down with rain that day too, let's just hope they don't decide to cancel this event next year like they did at Beaulieu!
Any way, I digress. We set off bright and early and and set off in the direction of our chosen meeting place.
When we arrived we were greeted by Alan in his 1990 CD, who had arrived a few moments before:
It wasn't long before Ian and his family arrived, bringing both his GSi and Motorsport!
It was then time to travel in convoy to the showground. I must admit, there is something about being part of a long convoy of Cavaliers that makes me smile.
Parked up on the show ground, it was time for some photos!

It was a pretty good turnout of cars and there was an enormous variety of rare cars to see.
Food wasn't bad either.

Calibra and an immaculate MK2 CD hatch, one of only 2 other Cavaliers there:
On top of the food vans, trade stands and shops, where they were selling their own 'Oh so retro' branded merchandise, there was also a live band:
Not many watching though. Bit optimistic with the deck chairs in the rain perhaps?

There were also rather a lot of Minis:

No Idea:
It was at this point that my camera battery died and I went over to using my phone.
NASA must have some very sophisticated anti-photography equipment aboard.

This sums the show up nicely, humble beetle happily parked next to a Roller:

I wonder how many bodies you could fit in the back of this:
Audi 80s:
The only other Mk3 Cavalier on show was this early L:
It had been modified a bit, 5 stud conversion, upgrade form original 1.6 to a 2.0 C20NE and was in the process of upgrading the interior to Ascot velour trim as you would find on a facelift CD.
Amazingly, I managed to find a bargain in the trade stands:
O/S front wing and front cross member panels for my spares collection.
The sun did eventually come out and my camera had just enough life left for one last photo of our Cavaliers lined up:

You have good taste in your cars.
I too am an avid fan of the Lotus Eclat.
Very typical wedge shape of the era.
Similar to the TR7, Aston Martin Lagonda and DeLorean.
(I do like a Lagonda)
And who does not like a Bionic Dog.?
The Rover Special Development One (SDI).

But don't tell him that his MOT expired in July

L122E would look pretty damn close to Lizze...
