OhSoRetro Show 29th Sept.2019

Post by iangsi »

Hi all

I attended this 1 day show last year & was told there was over 1500 cars in attendance a good mix of all different makes & models. I spotted at least 6 cavs, so I've been in contact with them to try & arrange a club stand for us, I'll also put the word out on all the different cav pages on facebook to try & get as many together as possible if your interested reply and I'll start a list.

OK gentlemen I’ve had an email from the organisers saying that they would like to see a minimum of 10 cars for a club stand preferably registered before 1990 but they will accept later cars by prior arrangement. There is a reduced entry price of £7.50 per car & all occupants. They would also like us all to arrive together which may be a bit tricky to do. As I only saw 6 cavs in total at last year I think it’s not going to happen, So what do you all think ?

You can count me in for this Ian.
I'll have to check first but I'm pretty sure that Lizzie and my Dad would be up for this too so that will bump the numbers up a bit.
If we don't make the 10 is there any reason why we couldn't just gather at a local pub beforehand then drive in and park together anyway?

If it's pre-1990 only, I'm out.

I’m still waiting to hear back from them but it should be OK as there was newer cars there when I attended last year.

I am sure it is pre-1990 only if you want a stand.

Nothing stopping newer cars gathering in an unofficial cluster somewhere on site.

It includes 1990 cars as well, I need to put the word out soon as they are asking me to collect the money and complete the club booking form online as the tickets go on sale soon. If anyone who’s put their name down already can you please let me know the reg prefix & year of your car eg: G, 1990.
Robsey you have to have a ticket to get into the show ground, general parking is out on the street.

That is pretty naff.
I would not be comfy parking in a strange town, on the street.
But then, not everywhere is as dodgy as some of the places that I visit...

Yea I think I'll knock this one on the head then. Pity. Still - plenty more shows happening throughout the year!

When I say street it’s the coast road so only houses on one side with a sea view, parking on the other.

Hi Alan

I’ll have to do a club booking for the stand so you’ll have to pay me if that’s OK. When I get 5 confirmed attendees I’ll sort it out. There’s 4 so far.

Right people our spot is booked & paid for, dependant on when tickets arrive I'll either send them on to you or we can arrange to meet somewhere near the show on the day so I can distribute the tickets & we can arrive together.

OK people the tickets arrived this morning I think it's a bit late to send them on to you so I'll look for somewhere to meet near the venue.

Rite people I think the easiest place to meet is the car park for the Turner Contemporary art gallery at around 9:00 am The postcode for it is CT9 1HG. I'll give you your tickets & we'll convoy to the show, from my experience last year it's probably best not to use the coast road to get to the show as there I queued for half an hour to get into the show. We need to get onto Northdown Road & go around the back & come to the show ground from the other direction if that makes sense.

Looking forward to seeing the group photo(s), along with pictures of many other pre-1991 cars of various marques and models.

I love the older stuff. 8-)
