It is still a bit of a trek for anyone north of the M62.

Probably a similar distance to Billing (Market Harborough / Northampton) for Vauxfest and VBOA.
(Approx 10 miles further south west).

Went to this one last year. Great show, really enjoyed it. Falls on the weekend of my anniversary again so might be a struggle to persuade Lady Jones to celebrate in a field of old motors again but I'll give it a go :thumb

I mentioned it to "her indoors" and it appears that she would like to go.
So I may see some of you there.

As the Cavalier is still on SORN, it is possible that I may not be attending the other usual Vauxhall events again this year.

How was that?
I saw the advert for it on facebook, and the organiser was a bit annoyed that the location wasn't at all obvious from his post.

Probably like a dixon or john menzies store of the early 1980's that had all the home computers lined up on the shelf to try.

Dixon's and John Menzies were still going a few years ago.
I think all Dixon's were taken over by Currys / PC World.

And John Menzies - an upscale version of W H Smiths...
(I think).

Hatched in1982!!... blimey! - I feel old now.
I was ejected MANY years before you, but I have very little memory of much before 1979.

You'll be telling me next that you are too young to remember Fine Fare supermarkets. Long before Morrisons and Tesco.

You mean Safeway and Tesco (though our local Tesco used to be Wm Low before they were bought over)

John Menzie was great shop in the day for kids, toys, comics, music (vinyl records for the young ones), computers and games, papers, books, sweets.

We did have Safeway, but we also had Fine Fare (a play on the phrase Fine Fayre).

Aparently they ceased to exist in 1986.

Returning to topic...

I see the guest of honour is Mike Brewer from Wheeler Dealers.
** At this point I sighed in exasperation and disappointment. **

Ah well - It is the cars that I plan to see, not Mr Brewer.
I will look forward to seeing the cars from my younger days when I still had hair and a sense of humour.

We shall be going in a "very" Unexceptional Vectra-C.
So we should fit in nicely.

It will be nice to see you again Gary.
- I can't believe it is six years already since we last saw you.
Blimey how time flies.. :)

After a bit of excessive spending by the missus, it looks that we will not be attending any motoring events this year.
At £2 a litre for diesel, it is essential miles only from now on.

It would be nice to go - just for a change of scenery.
And a break from the usual drudge.

We shall see if the Bank of Robsey can stretch to a bit of fun...

All work and no play makes Rob a miserable old bugger.
