my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
Re: my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
Good work mate its all plane sailing from there. I've got to take my dashboard out again in a few months lol
Re: my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
I remember when i first took a dashboard out in my first nova, there was just tons of wires everywhere and i thought it was never gonna go back together but eventually it did, i think the hardest bit was getting all the heater piping lined up with the matrix unit.
As dave said though youve done the hard bit now the rest is easy.

Re: my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
had another hour or so on the cav today, and continued to install all the wiring and switches in to my new dash, trial fitted my new oli temp, oil pressure, and water temp gauges, into the top readio din slot, and my stereo in th bottom din slot.
gradually getting sorted, and a bit of progress is better then none

Seeing this just reminded me about the panel and cables, pester me like mad on Facebook,my memory is utter useless
Re: my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
had another hour or so on the cav yesterday, wired up my aftermarket gauges, ( oil press, oil temp, and water temp)
fitted a new heater control panel that had all the cables intact, my old one had two broken cables, so now i might have a heater that actually works, lol
then refitted hazard warning switch and speedo clocks etc
i started the cav and it started straight away, and everything seems to work ok, which is a bonus, as when it was like this i thought it would never run agaain LOL
well shouldnt be long before its back together, just need some time to work on it, Ads

Re: my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
Thanks Guys I'll get hunting..
Ads out of interest what did you do with the old dash as im also currently sourcing the bits and bobs to change my interior over from lovely beige to black. I had thought abt having the beige dash flocked but not sure it'll suit the Cav.

sorry mate i binned the dash, the dash itself wasnt to bad, but the bit in between the dash and windscreen was a right state, it let the inside of my cav down, it bugged me for the six years i have had the cav until i eventually plucked up the courage to change it LOL, AdsBarney wrote:Thanks Guys I'll get hunting..

had a bit cav time yesterday, firstly fitted the new starter motor
then removed the back 3 water gallery core plugs, had a right struggle getting these little buggers out, anyway new ones fitted
then fitted new water expantion bottle and top, looks much better than old manky bottle
fitted modified top hat, so i can get dump vale under top hat cover
then continued fitting inlet manifold, hoses wireng etc, still have fuel rail etc, alternator belt, and airbox etc to fit, but this will have to wait intil next weekend now
thanks for looking Ads

Looking really good, so clean and shiney!
Although i'm not sure on the long blue silicone hose youve fitted, being so long like that surely it could collapse? Might be better with a long straight metal pipe?
