Re: my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
got everything back into the engine bay, and got thee engine running, seems to be ok, for how long who knows, lol
got the cav out of the garage for the first time in months under its own steam
cav could do with a bloody good clean and a machine polish, as its coverwd in dust through being in the garage for so long,
finished the last few jobs on the dashboard, this is now complete,
and lastly, fitted my polished bonnet safety hook,
thats all folks, getting there slowly

Re: my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
done a bit work on cav today, re-fitted standard coolant fan as the slimline fan was crap in my opinion
fitted sender to fuel pressure regulator, for my fuel pressure gauge
got all my gauges in centre of dash to work, oil temp. oil press, and water temp
fitted my new fuel pressure gauge next to my wideband gauge in the right side vent hole
now all the new dash install is complete
a couple of pics of the cav, needs a good clean and polish
the cav now seems to be running ok for now, after all the issues i have had, but i dont know if having all them
gauges is a good thing, as when im driving im watching the gauges all the time and its makiny me paranoid,
i dont know if its better to know whats going on, or if ignorance is bliss, LOL.

Ye I know what you mean, if one of the gauges suddenly goes buzzerk, it's like.. what now?
Still, it's something extra to look at I suppose. Bit like me, I love my V6 when I turn on the ignition and I get a whole panel of lights coming on, check control, etc. I find it interesting.

got the cav out of the garage for the first time since PVS, not that theres anything wrong with it, its just the insurance and MOT expired, anyway today i removed the ecu, removed the evo5 chips and refitted the standard ones, removed the zlet injectors and fitted the standard yellows(this done for insurance purposes), then wired the horn to a button on the dash, as i carnt get it to work off the steering wheel, and i need a horn for the MOT, anyway a few pics i took today for the insurance company,
thanks for looking .Ads

whats your issue with the horn, if you put the wire in the middle to earth it should sound.
Re: my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
ive tried all ways to get it to work, can not find any positive feed, must have lost the wire somewhere during the dash change.Ads

The steering wheel end doesn't have any positive, it's an earth.Ads wrote:ive tried all ways to get it to work, can not find any positive feed, must have lost the wire somewhere during the dash change.Ads

Basically the wire you see will make the horn sound if you ground it to the metal work. If it doesnt then there is a horn wiring issue

How would the insurance know if the engine has been modified or not. Ie the chip and injectors, you could of bought it like that with no technical knowledge whether its been modded or not.
Things like wheels and exhaust and non standard seats. You must be an honest man, insurance companies are cheats and robbing bastards, especially for those with a clean track record

Re: my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
I'd rather it was insured right mate as if something happened I couldn't be arsed with the hassle. Also it needs a uprated clutch as the evo 5 was killing it anything over 10 psi and it was sliping and at the moment I really carnt afford to replace the clutch or the time aspect of doing it. So iam leaving it standard till I can afford a decent spec clutch a lightend flywheel and some vxr injecters. With the rest of the uprated bits should see about 280 bhp but that's hopefully next year I just want to enjoy driving it for now.

Any updates Ads, car is looking really well.
Re: my cav turbo 4x4 work in progress
nothing major, just re - cleaning the bottom floor pan and running gear, and re painting everything,it dosnt really need doing, but i do it every year, also changing exhaust, new tx downpipe, with full stainless with 2 boxes in the middle, and a scorpion back box, the custom made one i have on is a straight through pipe with a back box only, and its a bit too loud, i think i must be getting old, LOL, Adshumbucker wrote:Any updates Ads, car is looking really well.
