Does anyone know why this might be happening.
I'm not loosing coolant and the over heating seems to be due to an air look as I left the cap off and it bubbled a lot and over flowed abit then went down.
But it's still steaming.
I think it might be down to the fact it's sitting around doing nothing.
But what do you think any ideas?

Can only be the matrix, or the housing is full of water

the heater went cold last Thursday........

The housing?
If by that you mean the casing to the matrix don't think it would be she never leaves the garage to get wet and I'm not loosing any coolant.

I see this is up for sale on the bay, such a shame considering the work that you have put in but I guess if its not getting used its the best thing to do.

Hope it goes to a good home and good luck with the sale.

Vauxhall cavalier L f reg saloon gsi rep two tone project.

Post by cavaliersri130 »

Well you'll all be glad to hear the cavalier didn't sell before Xmas and the deal I was doing with her fell through.
So what that means is the old girl is staying.
I'm ordering up some new parts for her as we speak, new heater matrix, new radiator and new rad switch and temp sender unit.
So that means the whole coolant system will be brand new.
Then next on the list is brake conversion on the rear as I'm fed up with rear drums.
I might even go five stud all round.
Thing I need to ask is can I fit vectra rear brake hubs to her?
Then back on the road for the summer months I hope.
My other half talked me out of sticking her back up on eBay as she's so rare to find now in this condition.
And also a colour change back to entirely red all over full gsi rep this time.
So watch this space.

Vauxhall cavalier L f reg saloon gsi rep two tone project.

Cheers guys.
I've ordered up my new rad and my new matrix is going to be ordered on Friday.
I went up to her today dusted her off as she's covered in it gave her a run and when reversing her back into the garage she made a clonk from the clonk like something snapping but I've checked everything and she's all good it's only happening when on full lock, so what do you think it could be? Please.
It's not like the cv joint sound it's more like a drop link but I've checked them too.
I did noticed the wheels are wobbly on the hubs could it be that, as I have got to replace the split pins so I think their coming loose.
