Your new arm rest looks great, Mark. A shame that you've had so many problems with OCS. I'd have exploded (along with the battery!) if I'd have opened my car's bonnet to discover that mess.

Thanks I am pleased with the armrest :thumb

To be fair it might have been on its way out, but I have it sat with a battery conditioner connected so leaving off this for a while and not running might have pushed it past its best.

Finished off the rear of the armrest last night. Don't think it looks too out of place now.

Oops spot the issue. Too much boost? Lol

ImageIMG_8346 by m33rkb, on Flickr

I have had it apart and put the needle back on, but it fall off the first time it hit boost again. So luckily I have managed to find the same one to replace it.

In the process of sorting the boost gauge. It has been a right tw*t! As it is a sealed unit so I have had to cut round the casing that isn't on display to access the needle (can see the tape holding it back together). Then it has been a pig to zero as you have to keep starting and stopping the engine to reset it before you try and place it on zero. Also I tried super glueing it on, but if fell of so I had to start again and now it has been stuck on with really tacky gluey solution on the stem (seems to be working).

Also had the armrest lid re-trimmed just need to get round to fitting it. I think it should look good though.

I used the car for work when it was really warm (over 30) the other week and cranked the music up on the way back and managed to destroy one of the subs (the glue had melted on a cover as the sun had been magnified on it all day).

Anyway this left a bit of dilemma as they stopped being made 2004'ish and the box has been designed for these subs. Luckily I managed to find one in America in an old stock clearance brand new in box!

Also purchased a Wideband AFR to replace my current narrow band in the same style as the other gauges. Just need to get the bung welded it when it arrives and get it installed.

High end old Skool Alpine CD deck converted into a Blue Tooth MP3 system with the help of the JL Audio MBX-RX (you can see the blue light showing that it is paired to my phone). Yes you cannot control the tracks on the head unit, but it means that I do not need to install a newer unit which would look too modern / out of place :)

296bhp / 350lbft of torque and healthy. Well happy with that seeing as though it is still on the standard K16 Turbo with 360 bearings and double seals :)

Vauxhall Insignia flip key for a Cavalier (with a bit of modifying lol).

The buttons on the key do nothing, but I am not bothered as they are not needed due to the separate alarm fobs. Just looks a lot more modern and saves having a key dug in my leg lol.

Hmm - fancy a flip key on the missus Vectra-C.
Sort of got used to the Cav key after 20 years.

Still totally amazed at the colour and shine on your car... totally jealous!! :cool

Not too bad. It just had to file the key blank down a bit to go inside the Insignia hole.

Finally found some time to finish off the Wide Band AFR install and I am so glad I upgraded as it is so much more accurate than the narrow band :)

Managed to split the exhaust system in two where the down pipe joined the centre section. I think it was down to there being no flexi in the system and the movement of the engine pulling it apart over time. Either way it has been fine for 2 years, but I have been and had a flexi installed to hopefully stop it from happening again.

Also I had been having an issue with the oil pressure light coming on the speedo (knew it wasn't an issue as such as the gauge in the centre console was reading correct). Turned out that the wires had broken.

Cut this one off and joined a new one now it is fine.

Bit of TLC ready for the new show season. Just having the bonnet and roof redone as I was not quite happy with them (no one else would have noticed, but it is an OCD thing) and the whole car is having a once over and a polish.

The paint is straight out of the gun and needs flatting that is why it does not look as flat as the wings.

Thanks guys.

Just compound from where the panel under the headlights has been flatted. The whole car needs a good clean lol.
