Super89's Farmyard rescue. 1993 Cavalier LS Saloon.
Super89's Farmyard rescue. 1993 Cavalier LS Saloon.
Picking this up tomorrow 28/12/15.
Its been sitting here since 2009. Plans are full leather swap that i have from my diesel. Along with wheels, brakes, springs etc.
SRi side skirts and boot spoiler, colour coded mirror covers painted & n/s rear quarter painted because of lacquer peel.
Should make a real nice car.
I really cant wait to get started on this one

Project! Is it solid underneath?
Re: Super89's Farmyard rescue. 1993 Cavalier LS Saloon.
From what i could see under the rear end it looks very good.
The sills and doors show no rust scabs, Inside the boot is all good and behind the rear bumper each side. Fuel filler cap is rust free under the seal etc. Its done 71k miles. Real inspection will come next week when i start stripping the inside out. If it still seems to be as good as i think i dont mind spending some money on the paint work.

The body looks silly clean for something which has sat so long, but I'd also be wary of the underside! Watching with interest...

Looks like a very nice car...
Remarkably clean and mold free considering it has been stood so long.
My mk2 cav started to go mouldy after standing unused for a couple of months..

Re: Super89's Farmyard rescue. 1993 Cavalier LS Saloon.
Haha. I will show you all tomorrow. Its nuts..
If you notice it has a small extra aerial on the roof. It also has another battery in the boot boxed in for some reason. Note the black box thing by the battery too. Loads of small electrical things have been added..
I'm just going to rip the lot out when i change the seats and carpets for my diplomat items.
Nearly forgot, Its also got no door pull unlocks inside. When you get in the car and press the brake the doors lock and the only way to unlock them is with a button under the dash near the headlight switch..haha

Farmyard rescue ?
Sounds like a rapist's car.
Tinted windows and no way for passengers to open the doors from the inside.
And lord knows what gubbins is in there to require two batteries and all that heavy cabling...

Yes i think it did have. Its got a 2nd battery in the boot and all types of wiring and some infinity speaker type things behind the first aid area.. Its had lights added into the door handle area to light them up at night, Also red flashers on every door handle etc..lowrider dave wrote:Large Soundsystem?Robsey wrote:And lord knows what gubbins is in there to require two batteries and all that heavy cabling...

Not that sort of sound system Iain.
Probably had it kitted out for competition audio output events...
they were very big twenty years ago.
Lots of thumping base and flashing lights.
And people now wearing hearing aids -lol

Not really done alot with all this rain. Spent a few hours late this afternoon cleaning the door shuts of all the mug and slugs, Took both wheels off on the drivers side took me about 20 mins to get them off. Jet washed under the arches and boot area its looking very good under there.. Still loads to do...but its looking 100% better on the outside thats for sure

Amazing transformation, congrats - almost looks like a different car (different wheel discs?). I like the polish also!

Some general cleaning shots showing the condition of the car. The fuel filler will need some attention at some point, Overall not bad really for how long its been sitting on mud for. some areas need a clean up and paint which will be done before its on the road.
Right what are these for and do i need them?
Already got a few goodies inside, Diplomat seats and electrics will be going in.
That was it for today, Start again tomorrow

Looking very clean and solid underneath, so lucky the mud hadn't eaten it away, very lucky, in fact perhaps it preserved it in a way! Was there a lot stuck behind the rear arches, certainly looked like it in pic?
Is the drain plug missing out the rear floor?

Re: Super89's Farmyard rescue. 1993 Cavalier LS Saloon.
Yes one of the drain plugs is missing. Looks like it's been damaged at some point. The hole underside was covered on mud. What's on the floor is nothing I had half a bucket full it was all bone dry before I started. This car must of been nearly mint before it was parked up 6 years or so ago. Still it will look better than ever once I have finished it
Re: Super89's Farmyard rescue. 1993 Cavalier LS Saloon.
I never expected the underside to come up as good as that
Re: Super89's Farmyard rescue. 1993 Cavalier LS Saloon.
Looking good those alloy's really suit the car Those infinity things in the boot are to do with a sound system of some description I would say.

Passive Crossovers are components that takes a single input signal (stereo/CD/etc)and creates two or three output signals consisting of separated bands of high-, mid-, and low-range frequencies which then feed off to tweeters, woofers, and subwoofers.
For a 'ordinary' stereo set up they are not necessary but if you plan to have separate ICE components they would be worth it, but I won't trust anything that's been there for that length of time!
