Thanks, I just posted the part number just before you posted this. Is there a sticky where part numbers go?

Thanks

Not that I know of...

For part numbers I simply look at ecat24.

It starts out in French, but you can change the language to English by clicking on the GB button. As it is a French website, don't forget that the Cavalier is referred to as Vectra-A

Apologies for stating the obvious...

There used to be a sticky thread called "Request your part number here", we've had it for years, what happened to it? I did a search, sod all came up.

Am I a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Well that depends on how much I've had to drink...

That was indeed a very usefull thread.

I've just had a search myself and it appears to be MIA.

I'll have a word with Dan and see if it can be restored.

Well one of the calipers was sticking and no amount of freeing off would unstick it. The car drove ok, the caliper released the pressure off the disc but the pads still just rubbed the disc a bit too much.

So since the power is being slightly upgraded I decided to fit 256mm x 24mm discs and order reconditioned calipers to suit.

The calipers haven't arrived yet but I have got as far as I can without them..

The old disc were fitted new by the previous owner a few days before I picked the car up. Probably to try and fix the sticking caliper. But it didn't work. Anyone interested? They are genuine parts.

I have wiped them with grease to stop them corroding.

Well the new calipers are on and the whole system bleed. So hopefully now the front brakes are 2L spec when I fit the C18XEL engine I wont have to worry about stopping.

I will fit the rear disc brakes when I fit the engine.

Thanks to Gray16v I have a set of SRI springs and new front shock absorbers. So I set to fitting these this morning.

It was quite and easy job taking about one hour per side. I just need to buy some new rear shock absorbers now.

Just a question. I have an Sri rear antiroll bar I want to fit. I can see new bushes for sale for the two mounts in the centre. But where can you get new bushes for the ends?

Thanks

That number was correct so I have now fitted the SRI rear anti roll bar.

Image

The ends of the old bar are shot and the bushes torn.

Image

So the SRI bar is in. I will do the front when I take the engine out.

Image

When I take the engine out I will also remove the rear beam, blast it, poly-bush it, clean the underside and rust proof/paint it.

Can anyone recommend the best brand of poly bushes for the cavalier???

Thanks

I fitted powerflex bushes on my rear axle. They can be bought on ebay etc at a good price. Easy to fit, I just had to make up a tool to fit them.

It's the small things that make a difference. A new shorter gearstick and new gaiters...

Image

Image

Oh, I also need a new centre console. I've fitted the one from my calibra for now. I did buy one but it doesn't fit. I can only assume it is for an earlier car?? See the pictures below.

My old one...

The new one...

My old one has a cut out to miss a box which I'm assuming is for the seat belt pre tensioners. The new one doesn't allow for this.

So if anyone has one in grey please let me know.

Thanks

The mk4 Astra grear stick is a good mod. I done it years ago. Makes such a difference to changing gear I think.

It does, drove to work in the cavalier this morning and it feels more positive.

I can definitely recommend this mod.
