Our cav 2.0 8v Diplomat saloon

Post by gidged500 »

Thought I'd make a seperate thread for our other cav "k" as it's nicknamed.

Few shots ..

It's a one owner family who have had it from new.

Everything works, Air con, Heated Seats, Headlight Washers etc

Runs like an absolute dream to say it's done 100k !

Few bits were missing (rubber round n/s inductor)

And a door pin cover

I've replaced both already.

It needs a new aerial rubber if anyone has one ?

Also does anyone know about touching up leather seats ? These look a tad tired

Looks good mate, the aerial rubbers you can pick up from ebay for example, just make sure it's the right one for the body shape, i.e. hatch or saloon as I think the angle is slightly different on them. They're cheap as chips.

Not in bad nick though, it'll make a lovely restoration.

Looks very tidy. As for the leather seats they need to be repainted, generally the damage to the leather is in the painted finish and not the leather itself. A trimming service can do this for you or you could buy a restoration kit if you fancy the job yourself

Awesome.

That's the other Diplomat that was on eBay isn't it.
They must have been bought from the same dealer.

Looking at the registration dates they were registered within a week of each other:
K946 YTM: 25th November 1992
K955 YTM: 30th November 1992

Considering the survival rate of Cavaliers is only about 1% it's remarkable they are both still on the road.

It was yes, brilliant find on the registered dates ! Think there are 40 diplomats left now.
We had to have the two as like you say it's incredible that two from the same garage are still going ! London I think they were from
I know they were both bt fleet cars

Pretty lucky if you got one of these as a company car.

Much better equipped than the equivalent BMW 3 series of the time.

lovely cars there. just got myself a dippy and cant wait to get stuck into it. I take it the arches are all ok on those, they look good from what I can see? I usually clean out the mud from behind them (no one ever does this) as it really accelerates the rusting process.
