My Cav Motorsport
Re: My Cav Motorsport
Think your right - I should've had the box! even though it is too large for my bonnet badge.
Yours looks good!

New badges look great Ian!
Re: My Cav Motorsport
Well I sorted out my running problems by replacing the HT leads, I didn't think it was them as I had replaced them when I bought the car, but it turns out that was nearly 9 years ago

Re: My Cav Motorsport
Great news, glad it hear it was a simple fix in the end.
Re: My Cav Motorsport
Yes James a simple fix when I spend some time on it instead of just driving it running rough.James McGrath wrote:Great news, glad it hear it was a simple fix in the end.
Re: My Cav Motorsport
On another note got another years ticket on this one yesterday as well, couple of little things to sort but nothing major. One bad thing is the MOT place I’ve been using for the last 25 years the owner has decided to sell up so need to find an older car friendly place now.
Re: My Cav Motorsport
Congrats on a simple fix and a new 12 month's ticket.
It is hard enough keeping one roadworthy...
Having multiple cavaliers would bankrupt me or send me to the funny-farm.
Or both.

Re: My Cav Motorsport
Well the lacquer peel got so bad that I finally had to do something about it, bought some carbon fibre effect textured vinyl wrap stuff, I took a paint scraper to remove all the loose stuff & started on the roof which could of been a mistake the back half went on OK but from the sunroof hole not so much a few bubbles & creases I going to attempt the bonnet & boot lid tomorrow & see how it goes I may be ordering some more vinyl very soon to busy to take pics I'll get some of the finished article.
Re: My Cav Motorsport
Oh eck - I worry about starting jobs like that.
I hope it all looks much better than it sounds when it is all done.

Re: My Cav Motorsport
It's a 2 person job really the wife's not much help.
Re: My Cav Motorsport
Well when I went out to the car the sun was out the roof was almost too hot to touch but the upside was most of the problems had sorted themselves out must of been the heat, so all in all I'm quite happy with it not bad for a diy job Now just got to finish it.
Re: My Cav Motorsport
I presume the vinyl will have "shrink-wrapped" in the heat.
Pulling out any wrinkles or bubbles.

Re: My Cav Motorsport
On another note I finally got around to sourcing an engine temperature sender for my dash gauge that stopped working a while ago for the princely sum of £1.95 from vaux-world on ebay as opposed to the £25 + vat that vauxhall quoted me, just got to wait for delivery now so probably going to be a job for next weekend. I'd say it's not going to be a genuine part at that price but as long as it works.
Re: My Cav Motorsport
£25?
Wow that is expensive...
My last OE sensor was only about £11.
Hopefully yours will be cheap and cheerful

Re: My Cav Motorsport
At £1.95 well worth a punt.
You could buy a load for £30 quid and make it part of the annual service

Re: My Cav Motorsport
Unfortunately after I posted that I got an email on Monday saying that he cancelled my order as he only had 1 left, when I asked about future stock the answer was no. So my search goes on.ilovedmymantas wrote:At £1.95 well worth a punt.

cavaliers sail through the mot until they get hit with the dreaded rot!

Or emissions due to worn injectors (C18NZ), leaky exhaust manifold (any family 2 8 valve) or a tatered catalytic converter.btcctroy wrote:cavaliers sail through the mot until they get hit with the dreaded rot!

mines has been dodgy the last 6 years, despite fault finding it to the nth degree! Some alternative "Adjustments" at play to get a pass!

Re: My Cav Motorsport
Congratulations again
With this car, now that I have to pay people, I've dialled it back to the original mot date. Gotta have something to aim for

Every other car I've had, I used the 13 month mot allowance until I could advance it to summer months, It allowed me to work on the car in warmer weather. I missed pre-mot'siangsi wrote: I know 2 in a week ! could of been a busy boy if they both failed, probably bad planning having them so close together.

Re: My Cav Motorsport
I finally fitted the Bosal middle exhaust box I bought at Vauxfest 2019 & have been carrying around in the boot ever since. The old box was not to rusty & didn't leak it just rattled as though it had marbles in it. It was a bit of a faff splitting the old box & my stainless rear box, as the ramps I use never seem to get the car high enough.
