well i know that im late in starting a W.I.P i have old pics in my old phone so will try and dig it out but anyway i bought the cav in may 2007 just freshly taken from the uk i think it was doncaster couldn,t get it insured so it was parked in my shed for 14 months but within that time had a few things fixed like

2 window regulators
window 4-way switch
new trip computer
changed floor carpets
new genuine floor mates
changed P/S rear qaurter window
changed D/S tail light
new horn
new clutch cable

got car insured then after 3 months driving head went porous (mixing oil in water) in nov 2008 off road until 23 dec after a full engine rebuild consisting of

DECEMBER 2008
rebored to 2.2 with new woosner pistons
steel con rods
new shells /big ends
new high pressure oil pump
block skimmed

head porous problem fixed with external pipe
valve seats recut
16 new 1mm oversized valves
16 new hydrulic lifters
head skimmed

new arp head bolts
cometic head gaskets
and full gasket kit for engine
new engine mount
new clutch
new termostat
new gen vaux timing kit/ water pump

on road again 23 dec for 8 hours when radiator cracks got second hand one until after xmas then ordered new vaux one

JANUARY
mid jan car not idleing right
changed throttle body
fitted power cap
new idle control valve
new lambda sensor
throttle position sensor
new battery
power steering belt-alternator belt changed
bonnet cable

FEBUARY
trouble free then until start of feb :rolleyes: my shed was all power steering fluid so
new steering rack
new track rod end
new wish bones (car had to be re lined anyway)
all front bushes

MAY
full service
all petrol pipes replaced
new fuel regulator (one next fuel pump)
new fuel pump tray mounts
new fuel tank sender unit
all copper brake pipes replaced and rubber ones
new hand brake cables
4 brake disks and pads
all wheel bearings

new bilstien shocks
new 40mm lowering springs
steering relined
fitted strutbrace

AUGUST
samco hoses fitted
new head lights
wind deflectors fitted to windows

NOVEMBER
2 new front tyres

DECEMBER 2009
failed mot on abs sensor an rear trailing arm bent
replaced rear trailing arm
kent cams (fast road) fitted
vernier pulleys
roose motorsport hoses (the ones samco don,t do)
stainless steel water bar (replaced plastic one)
passed mot on 22nd

JANUARY 2010
new gearbox mount
fitted outside air temp sensor
new earth strap from gearbox to chassis
heater matrix fitted -(like an oven now lol)

FEBUARY
cut holes out of timing cover

SHE NEEDS NOW
front brake dust gaurds rattling
fit 5 stud convertion
new starter
so thats about that:D my hands hurting now:rolleyes:

Im needing a new alternator on my cav too, welcome to the club :lol: .Theres all ways something to go wrong with a old car tho.

Thay come out the bottom of the engine bay easy. Ive been through 3 on my car the time ive had it. The last I fitted one was brand new and lasted just over a year.

i took starter out the bottom and alternator out the top :thumb

3? thats quite a few. I cant believe a new one would only last a year thats really bad

The new one was a cheap one off ebay. was something like £30 cheaper than else ware. Wont be getting another cheapo 100 amp one. I think the bearings are going on it as it screams when the engine is first started, the volt gauge shows low amps, the battry light glows dim when any thing with a heavy load is turned on.

ive found they tend to be about a pound an amp, so 60amp £60 100amp £100 etc

I think it was about £70, so what you say sounds correct. I also thing its draining the battry as well.

Well i got the starter and alternator back today they where faked but all fixed now new brushes and bearings fitted i,ll get them fitted tomorrow

plenty of work doin then! nice work, cant say im a fan of the sticker on the front of your windscreen, but each to their own.
