Alloys now fitted & Car Cleaned !

Post by marksmith »

Really like the difference the cleaning and fitting of Alloys has made to my Cav ( three alloys fitted, one coming ), so I thought I would post some pics. Its not up to the standards of many cars on here, but I love it all the same, especially now its running too !!

Plans for it now is to fit the centre discs to the wheels and fit the other alloy on the other side, fit black leather seats and door cards and a nice stereo and that will be about it ( other than a well deserved service which its going for today ! )

Please excuse the frost on the car in the pics, the pics were taken at 8am this morning and it was a very cold night !!!

hey, the frosty windows match the grille :thumb
Doesn't look bad though. Wheels look good, will be better with the center caps fitted. and 4 is always better than 3 :cool I'm sure once the sun's out, IF its out, she'll gleam away and you will see the result then.
Very tidy from the pics, it's only the frost covering that lets it down. :thumb

No mate, the Astra is my partners car. Its an original Astra GSI not a replica. Its a Phase 2 one ( they re-released the GSI in 1997 without the vented bonnet. She has owned it from new and its her pride and joy, but sadly it needs some engine work done. The car has only done 60,000 miles and is totally rust free. Paint has faded in places but this is something I will sort out.

You can see pics of the engine of the car in the how to Engine Clean thread.

Yes, I do have a fourth wheel coming for it soon from a forum member and centre caps coming soon from another forum member ( thanks guys ).

She does shine up nice, its the same car I used in the valeting guides i wrote on here. It has changed alot from the first pic I took of it in the Exterior Valet thread.

I am looking out for a new grille, so if anyone has a spare one I can buy please let me know as the one on the car has been very badly painted in the past and looks awful !

Personally, I'd rub back the grille on there, primer and paint it matt or satin black. Would set it off rather nicely (IMO)

Halfords do bumper paint in a colour similar to the grey on your bumpers. That would look good on your grill. Hope you keep the rest of the body standard. Its cool and retro. Maybe a set of SRi skirts. There are black and continue the bottom black bits on the bumpers. add a black boot panel and you'll have a Prefacelight Diplomat look alike. (1st cavalier to have leather as standard)

My Gf is in all next week. so Just PM me when they are coming to pick up the alloy. I'll wrap it all up this weekend for you mate. Glad its going on a tastefull motor. :thumb

Thats great mate, thanks. If you could pm me your address I will get APC to pick the wheel up on Tuesday or Wednesday next week ( will confirm date as soon as I know and will check this is ok with you first ). Thats great as this will complete the Cav as I have the wheel centres coming too from branny.

Going to keep the body standard. I like the Retro look just the way it is. Will rub down the grill and repaint it ( thanks for the suggestion ). Other than that the body will stay pretty standard. Leather will be fitted if and when I can find a perfect set of seats and door cards.

Love this car !

Thanks for all the kind compliments too. I was a member of another forum for one of my last cars but because I never owned the top sports model I did not really feel welcome. I still dont own a top sports model Cav but what a difference this forum is, everyone has been so helpful and complimentry to my Cav, its so nice !

A great forum for a great car !

I think a Mr PSL has a set of Diplomat leather seats for a hatch, you maybe able to barter a price with him over?

No worries on the suggestion for the grille, end of the day for maybe £15 in paint and materials, it would really bring up the finish of the car (again, in my opinion :) )
