Paint on the rear door looked burnt, looks like it was closed when the weld was dressed back though.cav_2.0_gli wrote:no the door was open when he welded the lower arch bit on, why?Envoy CDX wrote:Did he weld that lower arch panel bit on with the door closed?
Also - did you give those rear chassis legs a good going over before plating up/
i checked the rear chassis legs, and just removed the rust, i let my mate take care of it, he just cut the rot out and welded a hole plate over it. the towbar will be covering this up anyway.

ah, the nsr door is rotten down there anyway, my mates just had to weld a patch pretty much the whole length of the door on the bottom section, quick skim of filler, and some paint and the door will be goo as new.Envoy CDX wrote:Paint on the rear door looked burnt, looks like it was closed when the weld was dressed back though.cav_2.0_gli wrote:no the door was open when he welded the lower arch bit on, why?Envoy CDX wrote:Did he weld that lower arch panel bit on with the door closed?

well, the old beast is now Mot'd! and tax'd, and insured. its great to be back behind the wheel of a cav again.
heres some new pics of it.
now the welding is all done, ive rust treated the lot, then sprayed it with rust treatment primer, and undersealed the whole underneath of the car.

next was to paint where the welding was done, and replace the rotten slam panel (well whats left of it)

and heres what the old girl looks like now.

i'l be up at billing from friday til sunday, so if you see my cav, dont be shy to come over and say hi!
