well after some humming and hawing we finally have a replacement for the cav

some will know it as wilts old cav
well we went along and bought it off andy (thanks mate)

came as a complete car minus the engine as it had a let engine in it but the guy sold it which im quite happy with as im just looking to drop my engine straight in out the black cav that was wrote off

so far all speakers, tweekers, dvd player, subs and amps, second battery in boot and my trip computer have all been wired in

was gonna fit an f28 but already has a f20 in place so will just leave that in just now

engine came out the black cav the other day so kevin has been stipping it down and rebuilding it new bottom and top gaskets, new oil, new piston rings and big end and main bearings plus have kent road cams and vernier pulleys coming which im hoping come this week and hopefully get it in the gsi in the next couple of days as im hoping to get her moted and tax start of next week

I daren't even ask how Kev got the engine from under the black cav to the back garden :/

went on a 240mile trip for some suspension as the front and rear passenger sits lower than the driver's side

fitted the rear set and still sits the same (confused)

any ways next job

fit rear bumper - all went well

next - rear brakes were corroded so had new spare's so put them on

next - drivers front gator renew - (also had a ******ed drive shaft )
on the up side had a spare equal length shaft with perfect gators so fitted that

changed the headlights over to the smoked ones

and started on the exhaust

and thats the height of todays joys

tomorrow

try get a drop link + fit

weld and hopefully finish temp exhaust

Re: cav gsi 4x4

right well didnt make pvs as exhaust didnt turn up in time and found it needed new rear bushes plus cant work on cars at the house now as they dont like it lol
so we now have a lock up/garage to work on them

so exhaust is now fitted (dont like the tip :( ) bearings fitted hids set up and black headlights swapped onto it so looking good

also sourced a new boot in the same colour and will pick it up in a couple of weeks

tomorrow's plan -
- get driver's side drop link fitted
- have a look at the brakes as they are crap lol
-then a general look around for anything els for mot

anyways here's some pics :)

well kevins been busy today so first thing first

BRAKES- the other day there the brakes were not that good to say the least

noticed there wasnt much contact on the rear brakes - so he replaced the pad's and its much better

waiting on the droplink so thats on hold :(

next was to look round the cav for anything mot able to fail

drivers side inner arch was a little scabby so off with the plastic liner and started prodding and left this

Image

so out with the grinders -lets see how bad it is

Image

made a plate to fit

Image

clamp it and bent it into position

Image

started welding

Image

Image

finished

just needs a patch the other side where the engine mount is and thats that sorted

drivers side rear inner arch need's a little plate made up

Image

them his phone died so couldnt take any more pics :(

so tomorrow is to finish off the welding and sort stupid bits like the squint bumper rear box needs an inch taken off the pipe where it joins to the centre section for a neater finish on the tail pipe nearer the bumper

and any other bits we find wrong

not sure if i want to remove the side skirts just yet or wait till after the mot which is looking more like sat due to funds

but ill keeps yous all updated :)
