1994 Vectra GT - Track car

Post by EVLOPL »

So its a 1994 Vectra GT / Cavalier Mk3 SRi, we have quite a few base spec C20NE Mk3s in New Zealand, but very few of the sporty models. Our owners club is very small, but loyal! So my car is somewhat of an oddity on NewZealand roads and race tracks for that matter.

Heres how it started life:
Picked it up 6 years ago for stuff all from a local importer.

A set of 17" wheels and otherwise stock. I took it on a local trackday and caught the fever in a big way.

Step 1: Cold air intake.

Step 2: SBD Type C headers

Step 3: Brembo Sport MAX slotted rotors

Step 4: H&R spring package with Bilstein custom valved adjustable shocks and TOYO R888 race tires

Step 5: Weight reduction, down to 1100Kg wet.

Step 6: Anderson Race Engines, fast road cams.

Step 7: Free flow 2.5" exhaust

Step 8: High flow single throttle intake manifold for better torque response (my own design)

Step 9: Superchip

Step 10: QED 45mm DTH throttles with DTA ECU and high pressure FPR

Forgot one more item:
Step 11: Kevlar clutch with up rated pressure plate (2 x clamp) and short travel release and lightened flywheel:

The springs were from H&R Germany through a local suspension importer. The Shocks were custom valved Bilstein cartridge items that I sourced through a local race suspension and chassis specialist. He setup the shocks for me so that they perfectly matched the spring rate of the H&R springs, a step that a lot of guys miss out but makes all the difference. The car corners like a demon, it will lift both inside wheels without much trouble on tighter corners.
