Well as billing was flooded thought it would be a good opportunity to strip my cheap as chips xe engine I bought yesterday. The bases of it looked worn, so went about stripping it down to find its been rebored with 86.5 pistons and also has arp bolts fitted. Bores are in good condition with no lip. So will fit new rings and bearings and should be like brand new. Good for the money spent. The head is pants.

Well I have removed the engine and stripped it down to find the rings melted to the pistons. This was caused by severe over heating which led to detenation. This happened while I was running standard management and using the incorrect head gasket. By the time I changed head and gasket it was to late. I have ordered my new 87mm wossner forged pistons which will be fitted to my arrow sbd rods. So should be a strong engine after

Qed are out of 3 ring pistons but to honest I wanted the wossner pistons as they are apparently a tighter fit. But I'm waiting on a new batch to be made

Picked up a redtop bottom end Friday night of gsi pie. This is to get me up and running until my pistons arrive in the UK from wossner.
I thought I'd try out a new mod on a spare c20xe head I have. The mod is used quite successfully on d shaped combustion chambers like that on a 8v head. The c20xe head is of a pent design so there maybe no gain wat so ever.
The idea is to introduce groves into the combustion chamber which causes turbulence on compression creating a better burn.
The gains from this is reduced chance of pre ignition/detonation
Better fuel economy
Use of lower octane fuel at higher compression
Also this will help me reduce compression with my new 12.5-1 high compression pistons
Here's a pic

Trial and error. It could lose power. I'm thinking there might be no gain as the pent design chamber already does this. It's worth a try you never know. Very popular in mod in America and known as singh groves

Na thanks got 6 heads already. The coscasts are over rated. Gm heads are what people are using much better flow Its Easy to fix the porous head syndrome these days. You want 250 I'd say its worth 150 these days. But there again its worth wat ever someone is willing to give

I can't help you pal. There doesn't seem to be much interest in these now. I'm after power the coscast just doesn't do that as well as the gm.
