Right cracked on this evening after getting Buzz home with his 97 vectra v6 SRi... felt pretty slow compared to the cav... The exhaust is off and I couldn't resist firing her up then killing her
Emma said it sounded similar to a big cat roaring

Re: Squig's CDX v6; WIP
I think they held auditions for the UK's dullest 30-50 year olds and picked the dullest of the dull... going to watch it tonight before I go sleep and see if I can last to the end...
Thanks to Gaz for providing conversation (some info regarding vaux connectors I didn't know) and taking piccies while I did my variable speed wiper conversion, although it didn't work as planned I think it's a faulty relay to blame as I've checked the part number aginst various guides and the number matches.
Fitted my turbo lights this evening... in the dark... look ok but the off colour back panel reflectors are causing irritation...

Turbo light on the right... decided to keep the filters for now...

Re: Squig's CDX v6; WIP
Right... bit more work done on the cav... none of the listed work mind, but if you've read the other thread you know that I have a grin that threatens to remove the top of my head (now I've calmed down a bit and blocked the cav on the drive... in case it explodes into life and charges off on it's own!).
I've changed the injectors for some ultra-sonically cleaned Y26XE 191cc/minute items...

Manifold off, fuel rail and injectors disconnected and removed...

Old injectors and my coffee...

Old v.s new...

Fuel rail and new injectors fitted...

If you do this on a v6 DO NOT forget or lose these clips... as I nearly did down the back of the block...
Net results ATM appear all positive, masses more grunt at 3k onwards in second... and that's the only gear I tried before parking her up for the evening...

Was thinking that myself.Gaz wrote:for gods sake buy a proper gasket for that inlet.
Re: Squig's CDX v6; WIP
was a proper gasket before I took the manifold off... as it stands I can't afford fuel so the gasket will have to wait... if I have too I'll just make one up for the time being.
No new ones I'm afraid... some from a few months ago in the gallery...Cavyman_130 wrote:ggood progress mate, lets see some exterior shots

Re: Squig's CDX v6; WIP
A few more bits done and a biggie on the way...
Firstly a trip to the scrapyard heralded a few choice bits, aided by Gaz (in fairness I'm far to rough and stupid to get most parts off so Gaz did most of the work
), including a variable wiper stalk from a saloon (more later...) plus relay, an omega interior light, and a cavalier brake switch (guess what for
)....
The omega interior light seemed a simple swap out so en-route to home Gaz removed the cavalier's interior light, but Emma couldn't reach through the bob hole in the rear seat to get the omega item... cutting short an amusingly infuriating afternoon, where all dash-lights, stereo, courtesy lights, trip computer, etc, went haywire, lighting up and going off depending on which light in the car was on, I found a fuse shorted at the base so on first glance it looked fine...
At this point I had resorted to pulling all the fuses out and checking them all again then replacing them, at this point I found the blown fuse... and stupidly replaced it before I fitted the omega light, needless to say I blew it again fitting the light and had to dig out the last fuse hidden at the back of the shed... but I fair happy with the end result...

Taken tonight showing the new directional map lights
I then tackled the nagging issue of the variable wiper speed and after fixing the correct electrical connectors (including the wiring for the TC if I ever want it on 2 switches
) Gaz tipped up to help with the electrics and we figured, after trying the new relay and wiper, I'd bridged the wrong yellow/black wire... D'oh! So that's sorted too...

The original stalk bought at VBOA autojumble... no cowling still
The cavalier brake switch will appear later in the wip... it should allow a live broken when the clutch is pressed...
Then I snapped the key off in the shed door...

Least it was sorted by the time i arrived, thou i did say it was a fuse, then i doubted myself and thought its gotta be a bad earth in the roof, so i had images of dropping the roof lining this evening and soldering upside down trying to get the dam thing working.
Re: Squig's CDX v6; WIP
Loom for the CC unit is complete, routed into the cabin and cable tied into place. The original accelerator mount is off and just need to get some steel to make the bracket up... anyone know how to adjust the CC unit's cable start position?
