Finally got around to machining the cam pulleys to allow me to adjust the cam timing.Repositioned the ends of the slot in the inlet pulleys by 2.5 degrees which should make 5 degrees at the crank. My plan is to set it to std for MOT to pass the emissions test and then reset it.

Belt fitted.

Checking the cam timing.Measured the timing at std,set the cam to the new position and remeasured it, 5 degrees advanced, perfick.

Finally a bit more progress, having to do some DIY on house at the moment so can only sneak a few minutes on the V6 when MrsCav6 isn't looking :no

Cam timing set, went for std on the exh and 3 degrees advanced on the inlet, decided just to go for it and see how the emissions test goes.I've now got G spec cams inlet and exhaust.
Cam covers on for good, water pump, starter and crank pulley on.

Bought myself a long nose V6 inlet plenum to test.

After months of little progress on the v6 due to work, diy and holidays I've finally got it ready to put the engine back in.had to weld a couple of patches on the bulkhead which was easier done with the engine out.next weekend should see the 3litre back where it belongs :D

Looking nice and technical.

Is the layout of that the same as a 2.5? I.e. pulleys and all? Interesting to look at as I've not seen mine "naked" yet on the cambelt side.

Cavaliers had one lay out, Omegas had 3 differnt layouts depending on the age of the engine.
I found this out after buying a 3 bare block years ago, (Last spec) and my cavalier camberlt front and back covers didnt fit. so took ages to buy the ones that did.

I thought they were all the same, you learn something everyday.
My engine was from a 96 Omega and pretty much the same as the Cav

I see. Must be the facelift Omegas then probably had the different engines. Or just depending on model.

I only dropped the engine back in last night,so a bit more work before it running.
If I'm allowed some time over the weekend, should get it done, depends what jobs mrscav6 thinks up for me. :no

Im hoping for around 220hp and 300nm torque.
Aslong as it does a 13sec 100mph 1/4mile I'll be happy

For the first time in 576 days the cav has moved out of the back garden, last time I drove it was Boxing day 2011.
To celebrate the occasion I treated the V6 to a quick wash. :D

This is awesome. You need some vids up of it running and moving! I think you'll be pusbing 220hp easily with them manifolds and the omega inlet. What throttlebody/s are you using?

If you get the long nose omega inlet to work will you write a how 2 lol, as I have one sitting in my shed.

I prefer the look to the standard c25xe, but if it's easy to convert I'd be up for it.

Just the std 3 litre Omega short manifold and TB.I have tried various combinations over the years,I did write a post some time ago about the pros and cons of each.

The C25XE manifold is too small for a 3litre,I picked up over 40 HP at 6500rpm when I switched to a vectra plenum.

The long plenum will need a bit of work to make it fit,I've not mocked it up in the car yet,I suspect the TB will be quite close to the inner wing which may need some thought to get around. :scratch
