Flushed out water and replaced - only took four litres! Guess it didn't get flushed completely then! Added new expansion cap and ran to temp. That'll do for a while whilst the Forte brews, then I'll have to summon up the effort to flush properly :)

You think there's another cav near there with red wheels and a rusty bonnet?

Yes it was mate, I flashed you to take the turning just because you were another cav - I wouldn't have stopped for anyone else :D
Nice looking motor you have - hope you can make it to our meet on the 9th.

yeah the v6 will retain half its coolant in the block if you dont flush it after removing lower block pipe(s). did you just drain it from the radiator? that would result in coolant retention.

trick a mate did on an on an old rover -blew down one of the headertank pipes and blew the rest out, kinda gross but it worked.

Let it out from the rad and stuffed a hose in the header tank to flush - next time I'll do it properly and do it via the heater hose :)

ah therein lies the problem. to drain the v6 lump you must remove the hoses into the block as half the coolant will drop out from there. the rad alone isn't effective enough and you will retain 50 percent of your contaminated fluids.

Must be 70% Forte by now! Need to flush and change oil this week before the meet, and fix the leaking sump plug.

I did notice that dent there at the meet. Bit of rust surrounding it. Suppose it could be repaired if you have time/skill. :thumb

Started stripping car today.
Back seats are a bitch, managed to bend one of the metal mounting brackets, hopefully I can get a secondhand part or hammer out the old one.
I'll take the camera down the garage with me next time for progress pics.
Slowly getting there.

Mike, I'm keeping the spoiler just to be different.

4 white supertourers, got to collect them from my brother-in-law and get a local alloy specialist to give them the once over. Would like fresh springs and shocks added soon too. I really need to get that leaking sump plug sorted... :D
