Cheers Dan, trying to keep it modest. Going to finish it off this weekend hopefully and get it carpeted.
Cheers pie, though the cover could do with a good old scrub!
Picking up my refurbed side skirts and boot lip spoiler tomorrow as well so the weekends going to be busy

Re: Vauxhall Cavalier LS Hatchback MK3
So I've finished my boot build, very happy with it and I was surprised how easy it was. Spent around £30 on the carpet and glue and borrowed a staple gun and most of the wood was offcuts.
Here it is step by step (ish) at some parts a got a bit carried away and forgot to take photos but here's what I got!
Can of this stuff to spray the face and corners of the wood to help you mould the shape.

And a load of black carpet.

Started by wrapping the base boards that line the bottom of the boot.

Here it is in the boot, the carpet really makes it seamless around the edges and down the centre.

Sub in to give you an idea.

Then I wrapped the first side panel, this gives me a space to put a few tools behind.

And then the panel for the Amp to sit on, cut out a section for the wires to exit out of and then wrapped it.

Cheers buddy. Cant decide whether or not to make a mdf parcel shelf as the one I currently have is pretty warped, but the hatch boots are a funny shape and dip at the back toward the window. Anyone seen any done before?

Can't tell by the pics, but are the speakers 'stealth' fitted or are they visible from the top? Does the shelf actually take the weight well?
Great job by the way, neat install.

Re: Vauxhall Cavalier LS Hatchback MK3
Nope, the 6x9s are fitted in the parcel shelf, I just removed it in some photos to show the boot build a bit better. You can see in others the 6x9s coming through the bottom of the shelf. The parcel shelf was old and reckon it must of gotten damp at some point and warped but the speakers haven't helped, its not horrendous but noticeable.lowrider dave wrote:Can't tell by the pics, but are the speakers 'stealth' fitted or are they visible from the top? Cheers bud, I got mine off ebay a while back now for about £30 - £40 from poland. I think they are 'Team Heko'? But they're not there anymore, they used to come up on our british ebay. Maybe try german ebay? Or just keep looking every now and again.nidge wrote:fairplay mate looks good. where did u get wind deflecters from, do they do one for sunroof.

Nice work on the boot build mate
I used to do installs for all my mates back in the days when Bournemouth had a proper cruise community and not just a pile of chavs in saxos..
As for the shelf my Mk3 Astra one sagged so I got a few bits of wood (not mdf) and glued then screwed through with black screws as the shelf was black they barely showed but it kept the original look and fit, there are still a few people who do MDF Stealth shelves out there but they aint cheap.

Free Parking is a bonus, leaving my Cav in a carbon dust filled carpark is not.....

Re: Vauxhall Cavalier LS Hatchback MK3
Aaah nice one, I'll be living in Bournemouth in September. Oh right, I see what you mean, I've got a spare parcel shelf so I might try it out on that one, its mint though and a really nice dark grey so I dont want to mess it up. Yeah I'd never pay anyone else to make me one anywayMikebmth wrote:Nice work on the boot build mate![]()
