With the ac weight it sounds quite law abiding as you are passing the police station, but rather the opposite as you then accelerate away @ north of 4.5 K rpm. I like to think that it fools the Specs gizmos also .. Everyone to their taste (including the neighbours).

It's a matter of educating the neighbours into having good tastes.
When the exhaust specialist fitted mine I remember he was rather pooh-hooish about the various bolt-on "downstream" exhaust systems that I had been considering. He reckoned that performance and efficiency were all to to with the manifold attached directly to the cylinder block. I suspect this has an effect on the acoustics also. [the high-lift cam + flywheel don't unfortunately result in a nice low rev burble, the price I have to pay .. :cry ]

A small update removed both side skirts and rear bumper to see how much welding is needed to be done I was surprised with the cill's as I though they would be worst :D

This is the drivers side rear side valence.

This is same side just under the boot floor corner where sun roof drain is.

This is drivers side cill from rear wheel.

And moving to the rear valence apart from two holes not bad nick.

And moving onto the passangers side cill and rear side valence and boot floor corner where sun roof drain exits again.

This was given a good prod with a screw driver.

By far the passangers side was the worst. :tdown

Here's one for the club. :thumb

I have seen worse on newer cars I was very surprised the condition of the cill's just waiting for troy to get back to me on a price for welding her up for me :thumb

All this brings back painful and expensive memories, :(, hopefully now "fixed". You will no doubt be thinking about how to protect and preserve what you end up with after all the welding (I'd be interested to know)

Putting a lot of money in I want to give it to my son when he is old enough to drive her but epoxy mastic will protect her im moving the sun roof drains in the a pillars drilling a hole into the lower a pillar behind the front wings exstending the pipes and letting them drain into the front wheel well.
And spraying wax oil down the cill's too and the whole floor pan inside and out will be coated in epoxy mastic after the rust has been removed and troy is removing the spare wheel well so I can have twin exhaust coming out od rear :D :thumb

Not a DIY job??

Debadged / pre face lift spoiler / front bonnet / radiator grill all look better IMHO

He will much cheaper than someone who does welding as his main job.
You should find that his prices will be VERY competitive.

That is a pretty poorly underside your Cav has there.
May actually be worse than mine

I too will probably be calling on Mr Troy's Wonderous Welding skills in the summer, when I have raised some funds.
But I am hoping to do some simple bits myself around March / Easter time.

The floor pan is solid its book'd in with troy to have spare wheel well removed and smoothed off to make it lighter and strut brace welded in in boot ill get him to give me quotes on rest when he's there its makes sense as im in no rush to get it back on road and can save up for rest to be welded by troy.
But it looks worse than it actually is its just valance corners and boot floor corners and not much of rear end of cill's but I have a garage so troy can weld it in there and beaing force fed tea and coffee and biscuits
Ive proded most of it with a screwdriver so its not going to get any bigger well not much bigger after its been cut out but that's troys domain :thumb
Im thinking about buying next parts for next job polly bush all round refurbed rear axel off troy kunifer brake lines to go with kunifer lines on axel and new petrol tank which I have off chippandan's gsi rep he rolled just need front sub frame and a few other bits I can be getting refurbed in the mean time while its sat in garage waiting to be welded.
