I enjoyed beaing the tea and coffee bitch I could tell it wasn't going to get the better of Troy but did leave you at some points scratching your head lol and at least I know what is wrong with her and will get the parts it needs but im chuffed its a coscast engine too.

Here's the pictures of the two wires I was talking about that were cut on the old starter/charger loom that was red and black and black but the black wire we found out was an exstention wire for the red and black wire so i was right in joining these two wires together but because one end of it was on the back of the starter I would have never known this unless troy didn't replace the loom
And just a few images of how brittle the old xe charger/starter loom was its been replaced with the xev starter/charger loom I kept when I removed the xev and is now earthed on the block but also earthed on gearbox too now it has two separate earths here's some pic's of old brittle loom off xe.

They were cut for what appears an immobilizer circuit.
As you can see at the plug wires are showing exposed copper. This is why I changed it

Yay good news she is running tappit's are a little noisy timing was two teeth out and the rotor arm was spinning so had to replace the arm heres a few pics and a few vids
As you can see timing is bang on bit had to get the noches on the bottom pully.
After a resetting timing new rota arm and a few extra checks we went to start her it was firing in two cylinders to begin with.

After swopping the ht leads around as 3 and 4 was in wrong place on dizzy cap we started it again you can hear the tappits this engine had been stood for over 3 years without beaing ran on roads or stood ideling.

We left it running for ten minutes and a phone call from troy to confirm a few things it sounded quieter but in going to start it every day mite use 5 30w oil instead of 10 40w oil that's in it now.
That's warning lights on dash surprisingly no engine management light only low fuel and hand brake light and oil warning light which its well above the max limit on dipstick troy said its just a faulty sensor but im happy now its running and running right i can crack on with rest of the stuff I need to do to it now.

If it has been standing 3 years I would check the oil pressure properly before you run it any more, the pressure relief valves stick and dump the oil pressure to bypass.

Had one go on start up smashed itself to bits. When the pumps get debris they end up scoring there selves to bits and the particles stick to the relief valve causing it to stick.

Ah, just twigged, oil level sensor problem rather than the pressure light. That's not so worrying, and troy is likely to be right. I had visions of you running it with no oil pressure for a moment, which would be a disaster after all the effort

For what it's worth I was recommended (by someone who knows more about these things than I do] to switch to fully synthetic 5W-40 (not 5W-30) for better protection for my motor. I have followed his advice.We left it running for ten minutes and a phone call from troy to confirm a few things it sounded quieter but in going to start it every day mite use 5 30w oil instead of 10 40w oil that's in it now.

I'll have a look at that. I was suggesting someone gave me as a Christmas presie a pack of Gulf Racing 5w-40 ester-based oil (£38 on eBay) but so far I'm still waiting ..

Little bit of an update left her running today tappits quietened down now left it running for a while heres a few more pics
Temp rising nicely and fan comming in at right temp but then the revs picked up I pushed the throttle back but didn't make a difference But still no warning lights gave it a few revs yesterday and today as it has a straight through exhaust to back box a pissed a few neighbours off as troy found out as he phoned me as I was telling the neighbour what for yesterday lol

I got my garage to fit an oil pressure gauge in the wee compartment in front of the gear lever for added peace of mind. I can't stand the 4-spoke steering wheels, they have no padding and feel like a sailing boat wheel.... Love the 3 spoke LS spec wheels, nice padding, comfortable on a long cruise, which is the most important thing to me. That's one of the things I hate about my V6 compared to my old LS auto...

Some make a better job of concealing the speedo / instruments than others, depending on whether or not you can adjust the height of the steering column.

I might have mentioned somewhere that someone fitted an ex BMW "acoustic weight" to my modified exhaust, which I reckon gives me the best of both worlds. Seems that these are not very common (and I've yet to do a YouTube of the results)
