Re: SRi restoration project
May be there's a Cav Mk3 Flickr expert who can help out. I can access the links but only by logging on with my password. This might be the result of restricting the circulation to "My Friends". If the only way out is to open access to the general public, assuming they are interested, I can retro-do this (I think).

put them on your hard drive and resize them to 1024 x 768 and browse and add them, then place in line on your thread

Re: SRi restoration project
I think I may have some re-sizing software somewhere (Irfan?). Do I then use the Img icon?

Re: SRi restoration project
I am trying to identify to Autovaux (very helpful people) exactly and unambiguously what the "C pillar" is on the Mk3. Can anyone help with a part nuimber and/or pics? Mine needs either intensive surgery or replacement. Tks.

Re: SRi restoration project
You wouldn't believe the delays I've had getting the engine sorted out - had to send it down a second time to Searles because it appeared that there was contam remaining following them replacing the piston rings .. which has resulted in a new crankshaft and bearings ... you name it .. at their expense. Hope that it will be refitted back up here next week then at long last it's off to the welder to do his stuff with the body panels etc. When all is fixed and it has been Rustbusted hopefully this summer it will be free beer for all the Cavmk3oc in celebration!

Well, I've received some pictures from Iain about the car. So I'll upload them for him.

Thanks Gary for posting the potted history to date. Wish I could airbrush out the yucky ones but that's Turbo Tom's job now. And it's you lot on the forum that like the gory details rather than the gloss

Doesn't look half as bad as the picture I had built in my mind. Good to see progress is being made with it.

they check the level when it's serviced don't they?"

Looking good! Spotless engine
The rot seems to have attacked this one more than most, it's good to see you're sticking with it and making good progress.

Gonna be one hell of a solid beast when finished though I would imagine.

Well, I did say you'd need to dig deep, but I'm sure you'll be happy once complete. I still haven't worked out how I will be able to afford to insure mine when that's done!".

That's what we're here for!
Good progress. Rot is rot, it affects every steel-based car structure so all it takes is time and money. Quite a rare motor, well worth the effort in my opinion.

I didn't think I'd told you what has been done to the motor. This must be a web site for psychics and mechanics.

Mechanical psychics can tell what's underneath just by looking at (your) pics.

Re: SRi restoration project
Good progress there. I know that's not all of the work/rot involved in this project atm but it's great to see the car coming 'back from the dead', so to speak. I should be getting my Turbo back from the same place within the next week or so, will be sure to have a good nosey over the SRi while I'm there
And yeah, we love the rot pics, providing they are part of a schedule of remedial work hehe! Posting pics of a car looking great is only half the story really, and it's a testament to your dedication and commitment to the car that you're going to these lengths to restore it to its former glory! Good work that man!

It's always useful to have confirmation from somewhere that I'm not a complete nutter getting sunk into a project such as this!
PS Don't forget to consider calling in on Rustbuster if you're passing by their premises.

Some well dedicated work there. Not many people have gone as far to have the full rear quarters replaced
