Excellent, looking forward to this. Glad the car is living on at the forum. Don't worry about too many questions, we all need to know something from time to time and that's what this place is all about; sharing knowledge! :)

Enjoy barney ,can't believe she was damaged due the delivery driver not watching what he was doing ,div, but if you need advice just ask pal.
the locked box feels werid at first at low speed, it feels like you reversing with the hand brake on.
if you are removing the head bud you will need a thicker gasket due to being skimmed a couple times,

Don't use a slicone hose for the top rad pipe this due when you tighting it on the plastic bit on the rad it will cause it crack,(this after replacing said rad
couple of times due to this) got one free from vauxhall cause of over tighting ,

keep us updated :thumb

After lots of standing back and scrathing of chin i managed to get some stuff not as much as i would like, but it was a start. :fight

Car up on stands - CHECK :thumb
Front wheels off - CHECK :thumb

Inspect both front inner arches - CHECK :thumb

Image

Image

Strip out headlights, indicators, Grill - CHECK :thumb

Image

Image

Image

Take out airbox - CHECK :thumb

Image

Start removing front bumper - CHECK :thumb

Dont think that was bad going for 2 hours without a single clue on how to remove any of the items. Cant wait for my Haynes manual  to arrive at least ill be point in the right direction for most stuff..

Quick question, The inner wing covers (black plastic) are they held in by black plastic gromet type things that just pull out or do i need to remove a central pin like what BM use to release the plug?? :?:

Thanks..

Hopefully more updates to come over the next few days missus and child permitting.. :o

Yes the middle just pushes through so the main bit pulls out, if you can find the pin bit you can reuse when putting back together.

...and if you can't find the pin a small screw in it's place works perfectly and is easier to take out without losing it next time.

So beings as I had today off like many I decided to seriously crack on with the Cav.

So called my best mate told him to get his backside round so we can strip the car and here's the results so far.

Interior fully stripped

Body kit off drivers side

Previous welding attempt :wall

Body kit off passenger side

More welding :wall

And here's the rust :cry :cry

Passenger lower rear quarter

Drivers lower rear quarter

Rear bumper removed

Front bumper removed

There is more rust but ran out of time so I'll be posting some more later.

Have the got welder coming round to see the extent of the work needed.
, haven't even started looking underneath yet going to get the outside sorted first the put the car of a spit and hit the underneath..

More updates to come soon

Looks typical for a GSI that's why so many get broken, hope it's not bad news from your welder friend.

TBH it's not that bad my series one RS turbo was worse and I took that on myself.

I can sort the seals and other bits myself but won't attempt the arches as my welding isn't that good.

We'll see in the morning..

Quick question..

What would cause the drivers side front foot well to be totally wet we're talking the carpet is dripping..

No again that was shocking. And dont want any remembrance from that lol

But I was trying to do something with a mig that frankly is stupid.
