1990 Cavalier CD project

Post by Colorado »

Since getting the CD i have put over 750 miles on it as i have been very busy lately, But this weekend has been cleaning time.

Image

I have spent most of the day on this as i have been polishing, waxing and cleaning all the drainholes,
Also i have sorted out the headlamp rubbers as they were somewhere under the lights....
The car has had odd bits of bodywork resprayed so here and there, the colour shades vary slightly. Still bits and pieces to do but i think i have done the bulk of the cleaning.

I still keep needing to remind myself that the car is 23 years old so it wont be mint, but i have been surprised. I need to get a set of later spec wiper arms for it, as it drives me mad not being able to lift them away from the windscreen. And i also need to sort out the horn as only one tone works, But there is plenty of time for that. Time to enjoy it for now.

Does look very clean mate.

Ye those early wiper arms bugged me as well  Bastards to take off if they were partially seized on the spindles. No major faults by the sound of things, all good. Another good example being looked after.

Must admit, I do really miss my old early hatch, I love the look of the pre-facelift models.

Its in good shape for a prefacelift. It has had the arches done at some stage but i have seen ones a lot newer with worse rot, Lets say i was pleasantly surprised i have seen alot of so called mint cars with more rust than this

Just found MOT is Due by Friday so i have hurriedly fitted working horns (robbed off the Colorado) a working reverse light switch (robbed off the Colorado) and cleaned out the muck in the washer bottle which is the one hidden in the wing (lovely job removing that i dont think!) Now i need a pass!

The facelift type allow you to lift the wipers away from the screen without hitting the Bonnet.
