Today has been a productive day on the cav. Started on the dashboard, now i wasnt going to have the dash in at all but changed my mind and so wanted to make it lighter and wel heres how that went:

Nice perfect black airbag dashboard not even any cracks across the back:

Got the saw out and chopped the airbag section off and also cut out all the air ducting and other bits i didnt need anymore:

Going to make a piece to fit on the end to make it look abit nicer.

Then fitted the passenger doors on to free up some room in my shed:

Fitted the bonnet and hinges on and removed the sound deadening from it (which is forsale):

Got all the clips out in one piece too which makes a change:

Put the dashboard in and the steering column, easiest dashboard ive ever fitted did it 1 handed lol:

Put the drivers side doors on too and it now looks like a cav again:

Dan richards donated these rough cav turbo lights and panel to me awhile ago and so i made a start on cleaning them up. Didnt want to paint them black so i sanded all the blue paint off and polished the bare plastic back up:

Started with this:

Sanded it down with 320's and then 1500 wet:

Polished it back up:

And the results side by side:

Looks mint, not bad considering the mess they were in.

Great work fella. Haven't been on the forum for a while. Didn't realise you were going torpedo this extreme!

Fantastic work you've been doing. I'm really interested about how this is going to drive once it's all finished.

Shame about the dash board though. Rare to see a cav with a top panel that hasn't cracked and they are pretty hard to find new.

Sound deadening is for small engines

Good progress there, nice work gone into that dashboard.... Bet you can't wait to get everything fitted.
