Cavalier SRi Turbo
Re: Back to a Cav
Looks very nice.
Whats it like for rust?

Re: Back to a Cav
Not too bad. Both rear quarters have bubbled on the bit where the door shut is. I'll get that sorted soon.
Underneath there's some surface rust. I'll wire brush it all off and underseal it. The copper fuel lines are starting to rust which I'll also change.

Re: Back to a Cav
Looks very tidy and original, bar the bits of rust etc, is it Smoke Grey?

Am I a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Well that depends on how much I've had to drink...

Yea smoke grey.
tbh I wasn't expecting it to be a dog really. Drove it back 100 miles and the ecotec didn't miss a beat, No crap out of the exhaust either.
It is a really tidy original Cav.

Re: Back to a Cav
Looks fairly clean really.
Shouldn't take long to get that up to scratch.

Re: Back to a Cav
I'll have it Mot'd next month. Just got loads of other cars on for now so the Cav will wait.
Re: Back to a Cav
Gonna be mint with a turbo. Are you breaking that one then?
Re: Back to a Cav
Be a good build. Would it not be better restoring the turbo though
....with a brew and my favourite biscuits.
Re: Back to a Cav
The donor is an k reg gli. I prefer the SRi anyway. Plus if the blue one was a turbo it would take a lot to make it mint

Re: Back to a Cav
That block has seen better times! Good luck with the build.
Re: Back to a Cav
tbh it looks worse than it is.
As you can see the bonnet has 2 massive holes so water has been allowed over the rocker etc. The oil and coolant was fresh. It turns over on the crank.
I'll be taking head and sump off, Replacing oil stem seals and Piston rings and possibly shells if they require it.

Re: Back to a Cav
Ive just been over to terrys to grab some bits off this and hes right its not as bad as it looks. The rocker cover is a mess but it will all clean up fine. The car has some very nice parts on it though. A real bargain!
