A Cavalier loon..............

Post by vauxhallnutter »

So the replacement for the Zafira arrived last week in the shape of a Cavalier Saloon. Those that know me will know that deep down I regretted buying the Zafira from the day I picked it up so it was only matter of time before I was back in something older as a daily as I really dont do newer cars!

Anyway it is a 1.6LS and is very solid, there are a few bits to do but it is 20 years old after all! It has a good power delivery and is suprisingly quick for a 1.6.

Got a few plans for it which i will reveal as i go along. It needs a wash at the moment so i only have the sellers photo's at the moment

Mate, you got yourself a beauty right there!! Vauxhall alloys, mud guards all round, sensible spoiler on the trunk, nice colour, and if I'm not mistaken, a C16NZ2 under the hood. And do I spot a brand new steering rack under there?

Proper liking this one mate.. :D

I've been waiting for this update since I saw your post, really nice and clean looking cav you've secured :) Liking the vec wheels and the spoiler, they suit it well.

You wouldn't happen to want to replace that gsi grill with a correct facelift one would you? Also got a set of fog lights from a GLS if you'd be interested ;)

According to the DVLA / Direct.gov

It is 1.6 in Blue.
And road legal until next June.

Looks very much like the C18NZ, but I presume that the C16NZ2 would look very similar.

they do look very much alike - I've owned both types in my time :)
Just never thought Mark would go for the 1.6 is all.

I had a 1.6 saloon years ago and that was always good on fuel, it had the earlier carb engine. This is indeed the C16NZ2 and tbh power wise there isnt a lot of difference between this and the 1.8 but the economy is really good. It has had a lot of money spent on it over the years having been owned by an elderly gent who treated it like a baby and only got rid because his wife found it hard to get in and out of. Its had new cambelt and water pump in the last 200 miles, new rack and a few other under bonnett bits. It has a couple of rust issues in hidden places but these will be easy to sort myself without spoiling the look of the car. I have a GSI rear panel to go on there plus i want to put a remote alarm on there so i can open/lock the doors when my keys are in my pocket which is handy if you have your hands full! Getting new ICE for it for crimbo to replace the radio cassette thats in there at the mo!

Thanks for the offer but rather like the grille and i have quite a few sets of fog lights here which is another plan. How much would you be wanting for the fog lights posted as may have them for another spare set.
