Small update, Had the SRi re-tuned after fitting the Newman PH3 Camshaft & mildly modified cylinder head. She made 168.3 BHP at 7053 RPM. I do regret not doing more research on the Cylinder head, Although I do have a fully tuned head on the cards with larger valves and flow charts off the bloke i got the camshaft kit off.

The rolling road guy did say i would be better off with some 50mm long trumpets over my 90mm ones as there is not much room at the rear. Also recommended to wrap the exhaust manifold which i will be doing asap.

Anyway a few photos of the 1st decent run out since getting the car moted & tuned.

Sounds and goes very well indeed :o

Nice photos, looks like a lovely scenic cruise. The V6s had 170bhp so with yours putting out roughly the same power, you've got the go and the economy as well. Really good output for a 20SEH

Not sure about the economy bit.. Its a total different type of 170bhp compared to the v6 engine. Its rally car like all or nothing haha.

I got 170 bhp out of an old 8v SRI years ago (approx 1999) It had camshaft with timing wheel, flowed head with bigger valves, 4 branch mainfold with bigger exhaust and a piggy back ecu. It went really well with the up grades. Ended up selling it to get a new vectra 2.2 sri in 2001. It got tuned up to 170 bhp but never went as well as the 8v with 170 bhp.

Oil pump failed. Looking into the Z20let/h upgrade..

Lost all pressure at idle until the revs picked up. Main & big end shells seem to have survived.

Oh no! Disaster! Do you mean you're looking at a LET/LEH engine or oil pump upgrade?!

z20let/h oil pump, Seems to be the best upgrade over the std pump. Everything has been ordered so just waiting now.

Just a quick update to say all is well after the oil pump failed.

Engine is fine. I've only this last few days been bothered to build it back up. I'm going to tax it for this month and then Sorn again for winter as I have a few plans I want to do over winter.

Can't wait get it out the garage it's looking a bit like a barn find
