Aye, we all wish that.
I had the car out the night for a wee spin ,about 10 miles. All is running well with it. Except when the car is at about 65 mph the steering as a bit of a shake. So ill be getting the wheels reblanced.

This weekend I made a start to giving the car a service. Started out by changing the plugs.
Image

Then the fuel filter. The screw that holds the bracket for it snapped :( . So I used some cable ties to hold the new filter in.
Image

Today I started out by giving the Cav a wash and polish. A about 5 mins after finishing washing it. The rain started but never came to much.

Took the car out for a spin, but on the way back I could smell oil burning. Found the engine is leaking oil again. I think the leak was from the rocker cover gasket. So I changed it, had a new one in the garage all ready.

Image

but Ive got a feeling that the leak will still be there and coming from the camshaft seal tho. So the cam belt might be coming back off again :wall

Had a young bloke in a Mk3 Astra GSi flashing and waving at me when I was out in the Cav. Never seen him or his car before. The Cav has that effect on some foke

New head unit is fitted. Took me about 2 hours to fit so far, still have the micphone to finnish wiring. Had a new controler for the steering wheel controls to wire up too. Had a bit of a problem getting all the wires in behind the head unit and not catching on the heater control.

Image

Still need to set it up and have a play with it. It also still works my old multi disc cd in the boot.

Was just over £200 for it inc the steering wheel controler. Its the cheapest one pionner do that has the IP bus conector for the multi disc cd.The instructions for it are huge going to take a bit of getting used to it.

I am thinking of sticking the mic to the side of the omega sunroof cover. Ive run the wire up the A post and its hanging from the mirror just now.

Fitted the mic here.

Got my phone paired with it on bluetooth and spent ages getting it all working. Can now use the phone thru the head unit. :cool On my way home stopped off at Asda and got a new 4Gig usb memory stick to go with it also.

The buttons for the computer are fitted in the center consol at the front of the electric windows switches. If no switch is fitted then a cav has the slots for holding coins insted of the switch.

I never knew that you could get the sunroof cover/ light with a mic in it.

Late on Saturday afternoon I set about finding and fixing the oil leak. I striped the engine down to this.

Image

Found the oil leak, coming from cam oil seal like I thought it was.

Image

I had ordered a new head gasket set earlyer in the week, worked out cheaper to get a whole set than just the bits I needed. So this is the bits I have left over.

Image

Took me 3 hours to fix the leak ( I hope its fixed this time)

Today was the Astras turn Fitted a new check strap and hindge pins to the passanger door. As it was banging all the time when driving along.

Image

Then greased up the other hindges on the car. So thats the car jobs done for this weekend.

I had some spare time today, with not starting work till 5pm the night (doing night shift). So I thought I would give the car a wash, polish and then a wax. I got finnished and 5 mins later it started to rain. Typical :(
