Aye, we all wish that.
I had the car out the night for a wee spin ,about 10 miles. All is running well with it. Except when the car is at about 65 mph the steering as a bit of a shake. So ill be getting the wheels reblanced.

Re: SRi 16v W.I.P. (lots of pics)
This weekend I made a start to giving the car a service. Started out by changing the plugs.
Then the fuel filter. The screw that holds the bracket for it snapped . So I used some cable ties to hold the new filter in.
Today I started out by giving the Cav a wash and polish. A about 5 mins after finishing washing it. The rain started but never came to much.
Took the car out for a spin, but on the way back I could smell oil burning. Found the engine is leaking oil again. I think the leak was from the rocker cover gasket. So I changed it, had a new one in the garage all ready.
but Ive got a feeling that the leak will still be there and coming from the camshaft seal tho. So the cam belt might be coming back off again
Had a young bloke in a Mk3 Astra GSi flashing and waving at me when I was out in the Cav. Never seen him or his car before. The Cav has that effect on some foke

Re: SRi 16v W.I.P. (lots of pics)
New head unit is fitted. Took me about 2 hours to fit so far, still have the micphone to finnish wiring. Had a new controler for the steering wheel controls to wire up too. Had a bit of a problem getting all the wires in behind the head unit and not catching on the heater control.
Still need to set it up and have a play with it. It also still works my old multi disc cd in the boot.

Was just over £200 for it inc the steering wheel controler. Its the cheapest one pionner do that has the IP bus conector for the multi disc cd.The instructions for it are huge going to take a bit of getting used to it.Envoy CDX wrote:Looks more expensive that my cav

I am thinking of sticking the mic to the side of the omega sunroof cover. Ive run the wire up the A post and its hanging from the mirror just now.Gaz wrote:on my headunit im gonna fit the mic to the light in the centre using an omega light with the mic on it, once id stripped it down it was the same fitment as omega one- wish id actually traced the omega one back but its done now.

this is gonna sound like a really stupid question but as i aint got one i dont know the amswer, how do you control that digital trip computer thingy,by that i mean change to stopwatch or outside temp etc cos i cannot see any buttons on it.
Re: SRi 16v W.I.P. (lots of pics)
I had a omega light which had the mic and alarm sensors. it didn't come with a plug and I ended up breaking it when trying to work out how to use it lol, I would look good with one in. but guess I need to find one with a plug and bit of the lume so I can work out what is what.

Fitted the mic here.
Got my phone paired with it on bluetooth and spent ages getting it all working. Can now use the phone thru the head unit. On my way home stopped off at Asda and got a new 4Gig usb memory stick to go with it also.

The buttons for the computer are fitted in the center consol at the front of the electric windows switches. If no switch is fitted then a cav has the slots for holding coins insted of the switch.phalinmegob wrote:this is gonna sound like a really stupid question but as i aint got one i dont know the amswer, how do you control that digital trip computer thingy,by that i mean change to stopwatch or outside temp etc cos i cannot see any buttons on it.

Re: SRi 16v W.I.P. (lots of pics)
Late on Saturday afternoon I set about finding and fixing the oil leak. I striped the engine down to this.
Found the oil leak, coming from cam oil seal like I thought it was.
I had ordered a new head gasket set earlyer in the week, worked out cheaper to get a whole set than just the bits I needed. So this is the bits I have left over.
Took me 3 hours to fix the leak ( I hope its fixed this time)
Today was the Astras turn Fitted a new check strap and hindge pins to the passanger door. As it was banging all the time when driving along.
Then greased up the other hindges on the car. So thats the car jobs done for this weekend.

I had some spare time today, with not starting work till 5pm the night (doing night shift). So I thought I would give the car a wash, polish and then a wax. I got finnished and 5 mins later it started to rain. Typical
