Brakes look good. I have found new bonnets are available if you are prepared to travel as a lot of places will not post.

I have found some for sale but getting them to me or me going for them is going to cost me a fortune. The best I can come up with one off ebay for £100 and £50 for postage.

I cant get the bonnet I found on ebay. It was an old advert and shouldint have been on. Back to square one again. :wall

Rat cav, I can find plenty of 2nd hand bonnets but all have rust under the front lip like mine has. I want a new bonnet to make the car as perfact as I can.

Its looking like I will be fixing my own bonnet if something dosnt turn up soon.

Thanks ratcav but ive got things sussed now.I took the grinder to my bonnet to just see how bad the rust is.

Image

As seen in the pic its bad . Not worth saving.

So went to see the guy that is going to paint the car and he says get the old style bonnet . He is going to weld in a plate over the hole to fill it.

With the bonnet stuff sorted, I booked it in for the respray :D
Will be going in to get done in 2/3 weeks time ,cant wait to get it painted and start rebuilding it up.

I think it will be a long 2-3 weeks waiting for it to go for painting. With the nice weather this week it made me wish it wos on the road to take it out for a spin.

Its only a few mm deep, but if filled with catoloy it would shrink and leave a mark.

Hi m8. Am looking forward to seeing the pictures of it when it's sprayed. You have come so far with this car in just a short space of time. Just wondering do you ever have a day off from working on cars?

Hopefully it will be put in this Friday coming. I need to check with the guy that is doing it , to see how hes getting on with the car he has in the now.

Ive been doing some painting this weekend myself. I picked up a front bumper with fog lights for the Astra ,also got colour coded mirrors and a grill in better condition than mine. So I got that lot rubbed down and primed.

Image
The bumper had a few marks on it ,so it has had a lot of coats of filler primer.Next weekend ill get the colour and lacker on them.

I also added some sun visors with the lights and rear grab handles with lights. At the same time I fitted my old Cav electric sunroof.

I have been busy on the Corsa today. Had the handbrake to fix .As when I picked it up from the bodyshop and wos puting it up on the trailer. I managed to brake it, opps!
Have found that I need to get a new steering rack for it too . It has a bent arm :wall

No update on the cav, its still waiting to go for the respray. So ive been busy with the Astra.

I finished painting the mirrors and the grill. The mirrors are now fitted but ill wait till I fit the new bumper to fit the gril at the same time.
Image

Heres the bumper with 2 coats of paint on it. Still has to get rubbed down and more paint yet.
Image

I then started to fit some rear head rests. I had to strip the covers off the rear backs of the seats to weld in some brackets to hold the suport sleaves.
Image

Heres the end result.
Image

Sundays jobs will be find a air leak in the Astras boost pipe work . As when driving you can here a whisle coming from some ware. The Astra also has a oil leak on the front of the engine some ware I need to find and fix.
