I've never seen such a rusty driveshaft  Looks good though, the little mods that you did. Bet it looks 10 times better in the flesh. Pictures don't tell everything. :thumb

The rust has came from the disc. Seen pic, needs cleaned up.

I aso fitted a magnetic sump plug too.

and changed the fuel filter.

once that was done I set about cleaning the inside. The leather seats soaked up loads of leather balm.

Oh yes. And bits to fix other stuff. Examples are leather seat stuff coming to tidy up the seats. New exhaust heat shield for on the engine.

You put crappy supermarket gasoline in that? I don't go anywhere near supermarket fuels, as I've read too many horror stories..... I always use Shell or Esso myself.

Anyway good progress mate :thumb 9 parcels, that should be fun when the post comes

Suppose if it keeps it going.... good job you changed the fuel filter, if it was that low, probably worth doing. Need to get both of mine done at some point :thumb

Well the cavalier made it to the show. Got there early and got parked up. It was spitting rain a couple of times in the morning. Then at lunch time it started to rain off and on.

Image

Not many vauxhalls there.

The escort was vauhall powered. Had a red top under the bonnet. The bloke said he used to have 2 cavalier gsi's in the past and loved them. He asked me when i fitted my engine in. I said I didnt vauxhall did. That put a puzzled look on his face as he thought the red top was never fitted to a SRi.
When I entered the car I asked for it to be judged. The 2 of them both said they had cavaliers in the past . One even said it was the best car vauxhall ever made. So both said to me my car was a very nice example of a cavalier.

Picked up the new rear a.r.b bushes today along with service bits for the Astra from Vauxhall. Later this week I'll have a cavalier day and get the bushes changed along with some other jobs. So it will be all ready for its MOT in a couple of months. Next week I'll have a Astra day and get it serviced. Tomorrow I'm buying another Vauxhall to join our fleet. Getting a Combo crew cab van 1.7td.

Been busy this week . Picked up combo van given it full service and new rear shocks. Astra been serviced and new front pads. On the Cavalier I removed the a.r.b. then got the rust off it. Under the bushes at the ends it was very rusted. As you can see from the pic I will have to add some weld to build it up and gring it back in to shape to fit the bush again.

Great work as ever Greig Sri always look forward to any updates glad to see you still got it and the Combos are decent little vans. We have a 03 1.6 Petrol van with 227,000 on it but thanks to a full service history it doesn't really show it.

The combo is a good van to drive. It's got plenty of get up and go with the 100 bhp 1.7 td engine. It's an old post office one that's been repainted black at some point. With the rear seats folded flat it's just like the proper van. But with 2 side doors to make getting in the back much easer. It's needing some work doing to it. Will have to fit discs and pads all round soon. Have a look at front suspension as it knocks some times. Also the back box has seen better days and the gear linkage is a bit out as geting in to 1st and 2nd can be hard at times. Then it's hopefully going to be a good cheap run around for the other half in her new business.

Early history for the van is vauxhall. Till the post office got rid of it as far as I can make out from the paper work we got with it. Also looks as I'll need to do the timing belt, can't find anything to say it's been changed. The Astra will be getting a timing belt kit too soon. The car has been making woos woos sounds until warmed up. I took the aux belt off this morning and it still made the sound. Once I had the timing belt cover off. The sound is coming from the water pump or the roller next to it. I'll get the kit ordered/ picked up tomorrow along with new coolest.

That is good, I've seen some nasty repairs from their own workshops.

Ive changed the alternator on the car as the charging light was some times glowing dim. Once fitted its still the same so more investigation needed. Getting to it on the xe is not the best as needs to come out the bottom once the lower engine cover is removed.

Its under there somewhere. Lol.
