Hi Jimbo,
For some reason that link doesn't work for me.
I just get a blank white screen.

Re: Project C
Works for me. Looks like a 'rags to riches' story is on the cards!
Re: Project C
Rags to riches ok, she's a cracker. Barned her in 2008 due to cat failing and cause we knew she would become a rarity. Nature protected her with a uv protective film & camouflage. After the jet wash she came up mint. No rust apart frm a bit on drivers door. Currently a few minor jobs needed for mot, then we're in business. Going to cruse her around. Sorry if the youtube link is a bit hit and miss, could be my IT skills, if having trouble try going on to youtube and search Project C Vauxhall Cavalier Mk3 Suffolk. She should come up as a picture of her in red on a gravel drive. Not a power beast but still a thing of beauty.
Re: Project C
Worked by searching on YouTube.
It is probably more likely my phone settings that stopped the other link from working.
The difference between the before and after pictures is amazing.
How to go from dull green to shiny red in a matter of minutes / hours.
I presume the "to be continued" end picture will be for the car being taken away for a new cat, full sevice, mot and subsequent repairs.
Looks like she will be a little cracker when she is finished.

Re: Project C
That came up quite well. I'm wondering if that green moss and dust is like a car equivalent "facial scrub" look forward to see it's progress in the coming months jimbo.
Re: Project C
Thanks chaps for responding, this mission of ours started some time ago and most people thought we were mad, but we know better, totally original unmodified cav needed preserving, envoy, very rare, and she's coming back. Basics done and dry run mot, just failed on steering joint and 'a few other minors'. At garage, mate whose taken it on as infill job (busy garage) so hence we have to be patient. Apparently (unsurprisingly to us) after a quick cambelt change and sunduries, with a Booster she fired up straight away and engine sounded sweet as the day we 'stored' her.

Re: Project C
Quite the transformation. A real diamond on the rough.
Rare to see an envoy with metallic paint too.
That's the 71hp E-drive engine. I think the engine code is X16SZR.
It's physically very different to the regular 75hp C16NZ2 and It was fitted with a much wider ratio gearbox.
Very economical and you don't see many of them around.

Re: Project C
Cheers James, can't be sure about the engine type without checking, she's at the garage at the moment, though we believe she has a factory cat so was assuming it was one of the C class engines. Either way, still a diamond. One web site suggests there's only 61 Envoys on the UK roads end 2015, slightly less sorn, ours being one. Might be the only metallic red one, bet there's few more original. She's got a different stereo cassette player, that's all. Nothing modified or messed with, only the usual servicing.
Re: Project C
Ps guys, not saying there's anything wrong with mods!
Re: Project C
Excited, as received a text this morning from our mechanic friend saying she's all sorted. Going down in the morning to have a run through and to see if there's anything else we want doing. Will be gagging to drive her away but just need to sort tax & insurance, hopefully will get her Sunday.
Re: Project C
Excellent news.
Be good to have the old girl back again.
I am a tad jealous, as I have ages to wait for mine

Re: Project C
Great stuff!
Nice to hear of one getting put back on the road after so long.

Re: Project C
Now at home, taxed and insured. It was going so well until we put half a tank of fuel in and parked her on a slope point upwards and out trickled petrol from the tank area. Not totally unsurprising, bet after all that time parked up, the tanks rotted through somewhere . Thankfully once levelled she stopped dripping, lucky really way to find out. Back to the garage tomorrow, bound to be some teathing problems. She runs really well though.
Found engine code, she's got a X16 SZ James you really know your stuff it is the Ecotec. Surprisingly nippy for 71 bhp, especially as she's probably only pushing out a lesser amount.

Ah - quite common for a seam to split.
But, I would check to see if a fuel pipe clamps has not been tightened properly first.
You just never know.
They still do "injection" fuel tanks so it is fixable - just be careful a tank strap doesn't snap... just your luck. - lol

As they are 8v they don't really have much of a top end (maximum BHP) but they have it where it counts in the low and mid RPM ranges and that will make them feel allot faster than that 71hp suggests. I've always been a big fan of the 1.6 Cavs. Very underrated.
Re: Project C
As suspected, a new fuel tank required, ordered but turns out will take a little time to come through and so those mighty mid range horses get a little break for now. Hopefully over the hardest elements of Project C, getting her back as a runner should make it easier to get all the smaller issues sorted.

Re: Project C
It does look nice after the clean up.
I still can't believe that the paintwork kept so nice underneath all that crud.
